The first sale of new crop wheal grown
In Oklahoma, for Immediate snlpment to
Chicago, was made by ono of the lending
cash concerns yesterday. The purchase
was only one car, but 11 was the entering
wedge for a free movement of that grain
from tho far southwest as rapidly as It
conies from tho thrashing machines. This
wheat will bo shipped by Juno 1 anil
will probably reach this market by Juno
23, If not sooner.
The hum of the reaper will soon be
heard In the states north of Oklahoma,
as reports received from rennsas yester
day wore that tho wheat Is rapidly ripen
ing under the excellent weather which
has been seen for some days. The pur
chaao of this new wheat was fully lial
anccd, however, by the export sales of
the day, which were placed at 4S0,0u0 bush
ols, of which half was spring and halt
winter wheat.
Cash corn was Hftio higher.
Cash oats were MIHo higher.
Clearances. Wheat and flour equal to

ness today In wheat, the market ruled
higher throughout the session. Firm ca
bles helped tho hulls. Closing prices,
though easy, wore a shade to Wio
above last night. Corn finished at a net
advance of HtfUc to lc, oats unchanged
to UCio higher and provisions with a
gain of 7V4c to 12V4c
Commission house selling- of wheat on
tho advanco was much In evidence during
the last hour of trading, and resulted In
a setback from the top prices reacln-.d,
but failed to overcome all of the rise.
The downward pressuro was largely duo
to estimates that tho winter crop in the
ten leading states would be 107,001,000
bushels more than last year. Decidedly
bullllsh figures In the Missouri state re
port did not becomo public In time to af
fect the market.
Corn went sharply higher and developed
much activity. Arrival of Argentina ship
ments In Europe out of condition had
considerable to do with the Increase of
buying here, Chicago shippers reported
that demand exceeded the offerings. Re
ceivers predicted that arrivals would be
scarco after tho next few days. Oats,
that first were easy owing to good crop
reports, gained strength later with corn.
Provisions went upgrade Influenced by
hogs and grain. Packers were looking
for only 130.000 hogs here next week na
compared with 155,000 for the correspond
ing time a year ago.

CATTLE Thero were no cattle here to
day, at least nothing of any consequence.
For the week receipts nave neen quno
liberal, but still not large enough to be
burdensome. At tho beginning of the
week Iho market on the better grades of
killing cattle showed some Improvement,
but later on the advance was lost Thus
at tho close of the week the market on
beef cattle Is not materially different
from what It was at the close of last
wick.
Good cornfed cows and heifers have
been In very fair demand throughout tho
ttcolt, with prices steady. On the other
hand, the commoner kinds, especially
those showing grass, have been easing
off ib llttlo as usual at this se&Mn of
the 'year with such cattlo coming Into di
rect competition with Toxas grassors
Receipts of stockers and feeders have
been light throughout the week, while
the demand has been slow as usual. De
sirable yearlings and light nnd medium
weight feeders have been In fair demand,
and prices fully steady, but plain kinds
have been very llttlo sought after.

HOGS A fair Saturday run showed up
thin morning, and as other markets were
reported slow nnd no better than steady,
local packers Bturtod out bidding prices
that were weak to a nickel lower. As
salesmen were holding for steady to
strong figures, nothing much moved on
the early trade, but a little later on offers
strengthened a llttlo, so that when the
bulk of the supply began to move prices
we io (n no Instance more than a shade
lower, while any number of sales which
wero, madu after the market was under
wny looked to be Just about steady. On
the whole, prlcos can bo quoted as steady
to a shado lower, and the general mar
ket Is Just weak at Friday's average.
Thero was not much activity In evldenco
at any time, but after a trading basis
wns reached tho movement was fairly
continuous, and a clearance was made in
good season.
Bulk of the supply sold at $3.02105,
and tops landed at $8.07H, just Ittc lower
than yesterday,.
For the week values show an advanco
nt fully 15c, and any number of today's
Individual sales can be picked out which
are l&WIOc higher than last Saturday.
Quality ot tho offerings has fallen off a
good deal In the Inst few weeks, and It Is
only tho absenco of a good shipping de
mand that koeps tho range of prices so
narrow. Even at the present time pack
era ure discriminating sharply against
rough, heavy, packing sow, and the few
of them which have been coming In aro
as a rule selling anywhere from a dime,
to as much as 30o below the bulk ot the
offerings. The representative sales show
this to some extent but as it Is almost
Impossible to move the undesirable hoga
until tho rest of the supply has been
cleaned up, a number of these hogs sold
during tho last week were not weighed
In lime to bo quoted.
Receipts today amounted to 100 cars, or
about 6,700 head. For the week the run
foots up 42,592 head, being 16.600 smaller
than n week ago and nearly 28,600 short
of the same week last year. Tho heavy
falling oft registered this week has
brought the year's decrease up until It
now amounts to 93,870 head.
