It was for u wh:lo the general belief
of the gathering of fans at ItourKo park !
yesterday afternoon that Hunk Caiigalton
was holding come hind of a special day .
In his honor, for Bunk knocked a hoinf- j
run over the right field fence In the Ural '
Inning, the rirat action of Ita kind or.i
mtilgated by a Rourko athlete thla I
a6n, but Dan Tipple, the pulchrltudlnou ,
athlete, aneaked In and crabbed the do-
lng. With the score a tie, 7 to 7, .11 J
the last of the tenth, two men out and
Joe Ward on third base, Dunlel smoto
one perfectly good single to left, winning
hi own battle, 8 to 7.
Maddox had two striken on the hand
some twlrler and the bugs resigned them
selves to tho beat, aa Wllllo Ico Crosby
under the same conditions had whiffed
oh Nick Maddox'a curvca. On the sub
sequent pitch Joe Ward started for tho
plate, Thla put It up to Jladdox tu put
It over the middle. Tho ball wept ac
cording 16 directions and aalled on a line
for the plate, If Tipplo had let It go
UmPs Jack Haskell would have been com
pelled to call It a strike and Tipple would
hiye been out and Ward's da ah would
hive been In vain. This put It up to
Tipple to deliver. And Tipple dollvervd.
H swung his heavy green .bat, the bat
met the ball on the nose and tho gamo
jvs over.
Until that whirlwind finish the combat
was exceedingly bum. Vaught started
for the Wlchcs and blew sky high, Clos
man started for Omaha and he finally
went up. Maddox relieved Vaught and
Tipple relieved Closman and both pitched
gilt-edge ball.
Wlchrx Score lit First.
Wichita made three in the opener, Nich
olson's single, steal of second and
O'Rourke's double made one. Henry was
then hit by a pitched ball and Graham's

Wichita made no more until the sixth
whe n Cloaman ascended. Bills and Boso
lonl singled and Kitzslmmons' doublo
scored Bills. 3chlpko's error let tho wop
and Fltzslmmons acore. Congalton cap
tured the two remaining outs, although
he Juggled O'ltourke's high fly for a
minute, thus making the bugs stand on end
for that length of time. Closman opened
the seventh by hitting Henry' for the
second time. Ho then walked Graham
and Tipple was called. Tipplo walked
Bills before he was warmed up, and
then Bosaqlonl got a lucky alnxlo to (eft.
With three men on baaea still. Tipple
buckled down to work and no more scutes
were made,

ruh .over the fence, scoring Thomason be
fore him. Ward singled to center and
Chase drove one through Henry which

Two m6re were annexed In the second.
Skipper BUI Schlpke, the famous nquatlo
athlete, walked and went to second on &
bussed ball. Clancy attempted to aacrtflce,
but Maddox tried to catch Skip at third.
A useleaa attempt, as Skip beat the
throw, which waa bud anyway. Krug
forced Clancy at second, but Thomason
walked, and Ward hit the punch after
Congalton died. Both Bchlpke and Krug
came home on the hit.
