doing a ereat deal toward convincing tho
governor that a acriflc Is needed.
Just when the ROernor will make tho
announcement that he will tiecept the
filing. If, he docs accept. Is hard to tell.
The law gives him fhe days In which
to accept. A receipt for the filing fee
was received hv the secretary of slate
yesterday, which, with tho five-day limit,
will make the last day the governor ran
act ns ncjt Wednesday, according to the
secretary of state, who does not count
Sunday.
In the meantime George YV. Heige Is
getting ready to land on Governor More
head's administration and every other ad
ministration which has ever held forth
In Nebraska. It Is understood that ncrge
will base his right to tho nomination on
the fact that ho has always been a loyal
democrat. It has made, no difference
whether'thc candidate for governor was
as dry as the desert of Sahara or as wet
as theSjulf of Mevlco. George W. ha
stood for him and given lilm his suppo-t.
Surely, upon such a record of loyalty to
partv candidates, he Is entitled to some
thing If It Is nothing more than second
place when the votes arc counted.

MARNELL f OUMNNTO
THE CONGRESSIONAL RACE
DUNBAR, Ne.b May K.-tSpecJal.)
The recent dispatches to tho dally papers
from a democratic correspondent at Ne
braska City to the effect that Hon.
Charles H, Marshall of Otoe county
would file against Wllber Anness on the
republican ticket have been misleading.
It ls reliably reported now that the real
nigger In the. woodpile Is E. P. Marnell
of the Nebraska City Nowg, a life-long
democrat, one of tho editors of a demo
cratic newspaper, wr will file himself
against Anness. This derision on the
part of Marnell Is no surprise,' although
tho republicans and bull moosers will
not hnng up any welcome sign. The
News has been so far one of the best
boosters and vote gettors for Anness that
any candidate could wish for. The. News
at first commended the candidacy of
Anness in strong fashion, but changed
front somo six weeks ago. Mr. Marnell,
It Is said, will make, his campaign In a
Ford airship, so he will always have
plenty of hot air on hand. As Marnell
will forthwith accuse Anness of sending
in this dispatch, It might be said that
! the name of your Dunbar newspaper
' correspondent Is W. H. Daly, editor of
the Revlow.

Dr. A, O. Thomas was agreeably sur

student body of the Nebraska State Nor

president, visited him at his home. The
seniors were at the head of the affair
and began to make themselves at homo
with their former superintendent. In a
speech to the doctor made by tho presi
dent of the student body, the former
president was assured of the undying
loyalty of the students and of the
a lengthy cheer, "WhBt's the matter with
a length cheer, "What's the matter with
