OMAHA RALLIES IN THE THIRD After that Withers rinys Trick with Itomr Plnte find Opposing Ilnttem and Sioux nrnt Omnhn, Fire to Four. SIOUX CITY. Ia.. May 5.-(SpeciaI Telegram.)-., terrtfle rally In the third frame, which gave Omnha four rune, proved Insufficient and tSloux City made it three straight today, winning, 5 to 4, In ten Innings. Aside from Ihethird Inning, In which Stevenson was batted out of the box In the Sioux' half and Withers seriously threatened In the Omaha half, It was one of the greatest pitching duels ever seen on the local grounds. Long: before the nlnthe Inning was reached It began to look like an all-night session, but Lai eon weakened first. In the tenth, with one down, Kane tripled to deep center and Balrd followed with a single and the winning tally. In the eighth and again In the tenth Withers purposely walked Krug, filling the bases with two down ani then got the third out on Thomas. The story of the Omaha tallies Is brief, Shestak led In the third with a double. Stevenson fanned, but Schlpke singled, scoring Shestak. Chase was hit by a pitched ball and Thomason's single filled the bases. A double by Ward cleaned up with three tallies. Congalton flew out lo right and Krug walked. Thomas then fanned, stopping w'jat looked like a disastrous rally. The visitors were held hltless until the eighth, when Ward beat out a bunt and Congalton singled to right Wither passed Krug and Thomas was out, pitcher to first In the tenth, with two down. Ward walked and Congalton singled, Withers again passed Krug and with three balls and two strikes on Thomas, put six over the pan In a row, five of which Thomat fouled. He missed the sixth and the pitcher became n real hero. Score: SIOUX CITY. ab. n. 11. o. a. b. At pres ent time Pa has eight pitchers on his staff a,nd one more, George Stevens' who pitched such clever ball the latter part of last year, will report In another two weeks. And the pitchers are still as wild as the pro verbial Mai hare. The lack of train ing and practice in good warm weather wrought havoc with the salary whips of the twirling staff and they still con tinue to throw the ball only with approximate' proximity to the plate.
