The funeral of Peter Uvlck was held at
St Anthony's church yesterday morning
and a. large crowd of people attended In
addition to the societies ot which Mr.
Uvlck waa a prominent member. The so
cieties represented In tho funeral proces
sion were: St Mary's, St Elizabeth's, St
Anthony's, the Fraternal Union of Amer
ica, Lithuanian Alliance ot America and
the Woodmen of tho World. These so
cieties wero headed with npproprlato mu
elo and accompanied the body from the
church to tho cemetery.
Mr. Uvlck was widely known and highly
respected In South Omaha, being a pio
neer In this city of the Lithuanian na
tionality. Largely through his efforts and through
the encouragement offered by him
tho Lithuanians who are now residing
hero chose South Omaha for their home.
Mr. Uvlck is survived by a widow and
his four children, all ot whom reside In

According to General Mler's message
the warship entered Manzanillo harbor at
4 o'clock In the afternoon on April 28.
At 4:80 the telegraphers left their post
carrying their Instruments with them and
at 6 o'clock the bombardment began.
The tolegrnm says tho wharves and
adjoining buildings were destroyed.
