Child Labor Workers
Plan Brisk Campaign
For the Coming Year
The stttte child labor committee, a
branch of the national organization, met
yesterday evening at the Young Women's
Christian association to formulate an
active future campaign and to elect of
ficers for the coming year.
The monthly meeting was attended by
thirty-two delegates who unanimously
voted E. D. Gepson president: Judge
Howard Kennedy, former president,
was elected vice president; Judge Lin
coln Frost of Lincoln, second vice presi
dent, and Miss A. B. Stevens of Lincoln
as secretary-treasurer.
A campaign which will be waged
throughout the state will be centered on
three points: Raising the night messen
ger age limit from 16 to 18 years; ad
vancing the age limit on newsboys from
10 to 12 years, and an extra effort to im
prove the country child's conditions In
regard to schooling. This lest will be
given the greatest attention as country
youngsters in a great many localities are
forced to leave school and labor much,
sooner than the city child of the same
age. The national organization will aid
the state committee In this work.
