ALEXANDER SHOWING UP WELL Itonrke ARffrrRRtlon flora to Lin coln Todny, Wliere the 3Icn AVI11 Meet the Antelopes In Severn I f.nmca. Before a score 0 farts the Ttourko Reg ulars trounced the Yanigans yesterday afternoon at Itourko park, 9 to i. The Mctory was decidedly dummy, the result of the mud In which the athletes floun tiered when hiking around the bates. Re gardless of conditions, the game was pleasing bocauso It proved that some of the Kourkes could really hit the ball. The Ilegulirs annexed 17 hits before the con tr.t culminated. The Yanigans were strengthened by Stevenson. Hlctai and Brady, members of the regular fhiuad, but even that could not posirone the slugging of the athletes. Wallace and Thomason were the hitting fiends, although Thomas, Krug and I'aync got In timely wollupi. Wallace made three hits and Thomason four. Wal lace was pi wed at second on tho regular team and he assisted materially In the victory. Young Alexander pitched for the Hcg tdars for thrco Innings and did himself proud. The Yans got but two runs and three hits, oven though be was only using his slow ball. The youngster's slow bull Is a pippin and Alexander should be a winner If he can mix up the slow ono with a curve ball. Ormsby got baek Into the fray after R frlorl of Incapacitation due to a sore arm and he did well, althvugh ho was a hit wild. Tho Ynns made neither run nor hit off the Wisconsin pitcher and It looks m If he would become a steady twlrlcr. This morning tho team will depart for Lincoln to battle with Charley Mullen's proteges. CSondtng Is after revenge and ho QBserU he will got It If the boy hit like they did yesterday. The lineup; nBOtriiARS. au. a 11. ro. a. b. April 1 With four Australian and seventeen state rec ords tn their cerdlt, the four athletes com prising the ali-Amertcan track team ar rived hero today on tho steamer Wil helmlna, In perfect condition and ready to compete again in ten days. The men participated In twenty-one field days dur ing a thirteen weeks' tour of the anti podes, and did their own training and conditioning. Among the records brought home was one in the mile run made by James A. Power of the Boston Athletic association tho day before the team left for America. Running on a grass tifr.ck, with an extra yard tacked on, to each lapf Power covered the distance in four minutes, eighteen and two-fifths seconds, break ing Alfred Shrubb's mark of nine years standing. This Is said to be the best Urn, for the distance ever made by an Ameri can athlete on foreign soil, and is significant because of Power's difficulty in getting into form earlier in the tour. Aside from the individual performances the Americans won the team champion' ships of Australasia and New South Wales. In the latter meet they won seven of the twelve events In which they started, and placed in all the rest of the events. Iturlc Templeton of Stanford university put the Australasian pole vault record up to ll feet SH Inches. Persistent Advertising Is th.
