Corn was the leader on tho Board of Trade yesterday and the strength In that grain carried the other cereals up with It. Nearly everything tn tho way of news and circumstances touching on corn was bullish. Tho Dig improvement in the cash trade In all positions and tha sharp advances at all the corn markets wero the principal bullish factors. The Price- gains were from l2Vio and tho demand was quite urgent from the south with a better showing in the way of pur chases from the east as well. Italn was reported In Argentina, where the harvest of corn Is now under way and a -wet harvest there would mean severe dosses, as much of the corn Is piled upon tho ground each year owing to In adequate elevator facilities. Buenos Ayrcs Was firm, with shorts covorlng because of rains, and bids from Importing coun tries wero higher while holders wero re served. While tho evening up process In corn has heon under way for some time with shorts covering and the longs taking profits, it is believed there Ib still a good sized open Interest In the market. Tho trade has been largely In the May future ami thp open Interest Is In that month to a large degree. Scattered sections of the southwest re ported the need of moist Jre, but the llsI!'no ln, somo Parts ' that coun try will put a damper on tho crop killers lor some time. The domand for cash oats was a little better than yesterday, with sales of 200, w bushels. The volume of business was small. May pork was probably tho leading fea ture of early trade, as It was bought freely Part of buying of pork and lard Mas thought to be for packers and most . 1 tho selling was in the way of realiz ing. The market closed steady at a slight setback from tho high point. Cash wheat was unchanged. Cash corn was IfrffJWc higher. Cash oats were unchanged to Vie higher. Other speculative articles nil polncd ln tho advance. Net gains were. Wheat, ifto; oats, 'Aia to Tic; provisions, 214 l6c. It was a runaway market in corn. Most of the time Chicago holders were In clined to sell, owing to a belief that n reaction was due after tho decided upturn on the day previous. Commission de mands, however, aosoroea witnout airn culty oil tho selling and when the closing bell was at hand tho pit had become bare of offerings. Then the market went up with a rush. Actlvo spot demand for corn at Mis souri river cities continued unabated. Meanwhile the Industrial and shipping call here showed noticeable Improvement and thero was a sharp falling off In car lot arrivals. Reinstating in tho last few minutes by longs who had sold out this morning and yesterday had much to do with tho final upward whirl. Leaders ln thp buying said the feed situation and the small reserves for the next seven months wero forcing the advance. Notwithstanding opinions that snow in Knvsas and Nebraska had made tho crop outlook the best -In years wheat roso sud denly when shorts attempted to cover on acopunt of the Jump In corn. In this con nection It was said that farmers were re ceiving 10c less for wheat than western retail buyers .were paying for corn. Oats for July delivery sympathled more than other options with tho advanco ln corn. July finished at the best premium over .May so far this season. Less plentiful supply of hogs made tho provision market firm. There was also an upward tendency In consequence of tho uuiusn action or corn. Futures closed as follows: REAL ESTATE. FARM A IIANC11 I.
