the result of agreements between the

According to administration circles,
these bills provide for the leasing
of public lands under restrictions to

Now, It Is interesting to note how
even tho very verbiage of this plan
corresponds to the Taft idea so often

Pernicious Peanut Politics.
The taxpayors ot Nebraska, who
maintain the normal schools along
with the othor publto Institutions,
have borne all too patiently with tho
pernicious peanut politics played by
the clique In charge of the Normal
School board, They stood by and
saw Dr. Thomas, an able educator,
ousted from the superintendency of
the Kearney normal, where he bad
achieved marked success for the
stato, and now they am witnessing
some peanut persecution ot him.
It was freely predicted when the
politicians were put In command ot
the normal board what might be ex
pected, and the expectations have
not miscarried,. If any department

On Textile Manufactures alone there are 35 separate articles,,
about 250,000 words, 'with many illustrations and diagrams and

ment as in the field of manufacture.
The manufacturer, or the general j
reader, may well take as the supreme
test of a work of reference its de
scription of manufacturing and
industrial processes. Works of
reference usually contain little e&
these subjects, and that little peer
and out-of-date.
