of the Income tax law, which reads as
follows:
"That In computing net Income thero
shall bo excluded interest upon the obli
gations of a stato or any political sub
division thereof,"

January SO, 19H, the honorable, the at
torney general, held that special assess
ment districts created under tho laws
of the several states for public purposes,
such as the Improvement of streets and
public highways, the provision for sew
erage, gas and light, and the reclama
tion, drainage or Irrigation of bodies of
land within such special assessment dis
tricts, when such districts aro for public
use, are political subdivisions of the
stato within the meaning of the above
proviso.

pared a digest of the new insurance law
with a showing of Its provisions cover
ing the different sections of the act. It
is as follows:
Distent of Nebraska Insurance I.nwa.
Stato Insurance board has supervision
of Insurance.
All correspondence pertaining to insur
ance should be addressed to tho Stato
Insurance board or insurance commis
sioner. Make all remittances payable to state
treasurer and forward same to insurance
department.
General Provision.
Before issuing authority to foreign
companies each company must file a
copy of charter or articles of Incorpora
tion and bylaws and all amendments,
certified to by an officer having custody.
Certificate of amount of capital Btock
and as3Cts.
Copy of last annual statement made to
home department.
Certified copy of last examination mado
by home department.
Certificate appointing insurance com
missioner attorney to receive process.
Annual statement shall be filed boforo
March 1 of each year.
Licences for all companies and agents
expire on April SO of each year.

can be issued to assessment association.
