ing out the records. -It is planned to
keep the bnnk open two'hours each morn

to verify notes held by the bank. It Is

organization of the bank would have
been completed and business resumed had
not the bad notes been discovered. None
of the notes found so far Is on this bnnk.

question whether the state of Nebraska
should pay one of Its employes, who
finding himself Or herself deficient In
the qualifications necessary -to hold tho
job, a salary while that employe Is quali
fying himself or herself came up this
forenoon beforo the meeting of tho State
Normal board, and becauso of the strong
fight made by State Treasurer George,
was laid over until the next .meeting.
The controversy came up over tho habit
of tho board of paying a month's salary
to teachers In the state normal who se
cure leave of absence In order to tako
additional training In somo school which
will better prepare them for the por.ltlon
they hold. Mr. George vigorously op
poted tho plan, claiming that the teachers
ought not to be given any greater rights
than any other employe of the state, llo
thought that If a teacher found that In
older rucccrsfully to carry on the work,
It, was necessary to equip herself better,
she should do so at her own expense,
the same as a physician, attorney, clerk,
or nny other man in professional lire.

up.
Contracts for the erection of tho new
building at the Wayno normal, and also
for the erection of a twelve-room ad
dition to the Chadron normal, were let
by the board last night.
. P. Riddel of Crelghton scoured tho
contract for, the new building at Wayno
for $76,630. The contract for the addition
to tho Chadron school was let to F. E.
Mulholland of .Rapid City, S. D., for
$24,533. Mulholland la nop building a
dormitory at the Chadron school, and
will begin work on the new addition to
tho main building as soon as tho other
is completed.

state from a ruling of Judge Troup or
tho Dougloa county district court, who
overruled tho remonstrance filed by
Fraser and others against the granting
of a nloon- license for this year to Ted
P. Hunter nt 1816 Military avfcnue. Fraser
and others set out In their remonstrance
that the saloon run by Hunter for years
has been run as a nuisance, that men
congregated about It and used loud and
obscene languago and that tho rear
room of the place was used by women
as a placo to congregate.
