Had the committee In charge of the Charily ball, when pondering over the question of full dress or no full dress at the ball put the matter before the high school toclal Ml for decision the aye would have had It by a big ma jority, according to Indications In evi dence at the high school holiday dances. Tho full dress suit Is coming into Its own among tho students and la on record for a permanent stay. The first lads who dared to venture forth In dress suits this season made their debut nt tho Senior Prom a week ago last Monday at Chambers.' This hop. although considered the biggest function of tho school year, has always hitherto been Informal, but times hnv changed, according to those who pretend to know at the school and the old must go. It Is true that for the first few dances at the senior, those of the elite, bold enough to don full dress, were eyed askance, but this feeling soon wore off and toward the latter part of the hop It Will be attested to by all who observed thn manner In which the young misses present gathered nround the fortunato ' ones that thsy were tho objects of envy by all. When the Ice was thus once broken, others followed In qulclt order and no high school hop of any nature Is now "classy" without at least half tho lads In full dres. Tuxedos arn held good form by the set, but to be In exact accord with the dictates of up-to-the-minute fashion only the full dress Is permissible. The younger eet which formerly was en grossed with discussions of the various modes of dancing are now occupied with tho weightier matteM of whether gold or pearl studs are the thing and the youngsters of the under classes who up to n few short weeks ago were unable to distinguish a Norfolk from a sack suit Bre now arguing out tho finer point of difference between morning and evening drew. Dress suits and even silk hats were notably popular at the following dancing parties given by the various high school HocleUes last week, the Mattes club party at the Rome and tho T. K. and I.es Hlboux parties, each of which were at Chambers' academy. Holiday vacation Is over and the young people nro leaving In largo numbers' for school and college.
