Brighter Christmas
by Mrs. Ahlquist
Mrs. O. W. Ahlquist, 27(0 Meredith ave
nue, who for somo twenty-six years has
done more charitable work alone than
some of the Institutions, Is facing a dif
ficult problem In providing for her
Christmas charges.
She Is undertaking this year to provide
Christmas cheer for tho sick nnd crip
pled and aged Inmates of the county
hospital, and likewise to make at least
one bright spot In tho lives of the girls
who aro confined In tho county Jail.
There aro somo 200 to caro for nt the
county hospital and about twenty girls
In tho county jail, for -whom no provision
has been made.,
Tho organized canvass of other organ
izations for Christmas charity has made
tho work ot Mrs. Ahlquist harder than
usual and sho Is wondering today, whero
she will get funds for her work. 6ne gift
ot f3 from a girl, her mother and sister,
will go a long way toward making this
task possible and a gift of J3 Monday
also is most welcome. However, still more
money is needed to brighten up ,thse
people on Christmas day, and thoso who
can pauso in their giving to divert even a
llttlo to help her will bo greatly appreciated.
