The run of oars was upward of 1.000, and
when tho fact Is considered that the. price

CATTIjE HecolDts wero llsht nltaln to-

mand, as usiiul during tho holiday week,
was none too brisk. Am It was, packors
all wanted a fow of. the better grades of
killers and such stuff as would come un
der that heud commanded good, strong
prices. The best boef nuro som up as
high as 1S.2G. On tho other hand, tho less
desirable kinds were slow and no batter
than steady. The medium kinds or cows
were dull and hard to move even at
steady prices.
Tlicre were no stocaors or iceiinrs oi
any consequence, and for that reason
linn prices wero muintuinrti. tho coun
try demand Ik limited and no grout num
ber of cattlo is wanted.

HOGS Supptleh wore fairly nfoderate,
about 101 cars, or 7,400 head, being re
ported In. For the two days the total
is 10,814, about 11, WO head smaller than
last week and nearly 1,000 hvud short of
tho corresponding days u ycur ago.
Trade opened out rather slow this
morning, but shippers nnd tix'CtilatorH
bought a few loads during thu early
rounds that looked to bo nearly steady.
Packers, however, were very bearish and
they opened out bidding prices that wero
all of a dime lower. Balesmcn were not
looking for any such market as this
"und they fought tho decline hard, but
after holding off for about two hourH
they finally started to cut loose at the
decllno named.
Bulk of the heavies and butchers sold
nt l7.CO37.ri0, with tho big end of the
lights moving at a range of 17.3037.45.
The best price paid was $7.70, Just the
same as Monday's top.
Trade, which was very dull nt all times.
became extremely slow at the close and
prices paid late In tho forenoon looked
to bo weaker even tluiu at the oienlng.
it was late In the day before anything
like a clcaranco was made.
SHEEP In many respects trade was
very much like that on the first day of
tho week, as the receipt a were little, If
any, different ixti to slxo and prices on
killers showed an advance of lbtj'Xa all
along the lino. In tho matter of re
ceipts a larger proportion of them wero
killers and the supply of feeder offerings
was rather light. There, was another
scarcity of right good lambs and sheep,
resulting In the packers being good com
petitors for anything at all decent In the
way of fat offerings and most everything
being dlspoeed of at a comparatively
curly hour. Chicago reported another
light run and prices advancing 10316c,
indicating that the general shortage In
the receipts and tho meager supply of
choice grades of all killers Is still re
sponsible for the rising tendency to
values. Reports from the eastern trade
