The Drazdast Kenrut nrn enmlnir strntie In the Metropolitan league and are to bo reckoned with when it cone, to pick ing the winners of this league. Jimmy Jarosh, their star anchor man Is leading the league with 190 average, a,'id bids fair to keep up his present strong gait. The game last Wednesday n.gnt be tween, the South Omaha all-stars and the Omaha all-stars ended In a victory for tho Omaha crowd, who had a 101-pln lead at tho end of the three games. To com plete the match, another three games will be rolled Sunday afternoon on tho Mor ilson alleys. Tho Brandes High Balls have been, ac cused of getting down to the alleys early and occupying both alloys until 8 o'clock, which keeps their opponents from ob taining practice before the game. Why don't the opponents get down a little early and Jump Into the game? They are welcome. Sutherland's departure from the city leaves a hurd gap to fill In the lineup. This Is tho second serious blow to them this season. Jim Illakeney departed about three weeks ago. TIiIb place was filled by Anglesburg, but it will bo hard to fill Sutherland's shoes, as the supply of sharks is nearly exhausted, Not only did tho O'Learys of Chlcaijo win tho Mid-West championship at tit. Louis, but they also won the champion ship at Chicago in the recent city tourna ment held there. They are now out after tho Illinois state championship. They will also bo heard from at tho American, Bowling "congress tournament in' 'Buffalo.. They are having lively times at the Oate City league. IJvery team says that some rule was mado to keep them from winning tho pennant Just at present Joe Dober seems to bo having the most trouble, owing to what ho says Is a rule that no now player can Join the league unless he has both arms and legs cut off. With 3m Blakeney's departure from tho city, Omaha loses a mighty good bowler, and Kansas City ' gets one, It is not Know yet, wether Jim has signed up with any of the league teams down there, but It is a sure fact that when once he hears the rattle of tho pins he will drop in and show them how the game is really played. Phil Wolff, at one time considered tho world's best bowler, Is Intending to stop In Omaha about Now Year's day on his way back to his home In Pueblo. He has been making a circuit of tho middle west towns. Including the St. IxhiIh tourna ment, where he won second place In the Individuals. He Is anxious to tako on u few matches with Omaha sharks. Slnoo changing their names the Ixsarys Engravers have been setting tho Gate City league on f.ro. They havo been win ning all their series. They are not con tent with two games, they usually take three. The Kaglus, another second di vision tram In this league, are also mak ing It hot for their opponents. Their chief hobby Is winning the whole series fiom the team at the top of tho list. Tho rivalry between last year's Mutt and Jeff teams has been revived and they win prouanly stage their nrst fray on tlie Morrison alleys. Kalrlh Sclple Is the smallest fellow on the Mutt team and Barney fhaw Is tho largest man on the Jeff team, so It Is plain to be seen there I nulte a difference in the size of these two teams. The Mutts outweigh the Jeffs, but tho latter have more speed. It Is hard to understand what Is the trouble with tho Beacon Press team In tho Booster league. They havo beerl in tho 1 second division all season and even at 1 Present don't show any signs of taking any rapid rise in the leaguo standing. with such snarKs as aiatuin, uaizcr and Goff In the line-up, and 'with such i?i 1 good follow-up men as Green, Kranda ' anu luuttry, hub icmhi uukiii. w iimnu u better showing.
