There Is no demand to speak of for the

places than at Chicago. There must be

The new corn now on the farms Is sala

Kent n res of the Tradlnir nud Closing
Prices on Hoard of Trade.
CHICAGO, Dec 15. Bearish figures In
the government crop report about wheat
and bullish figures as to corn came too
lato to affect prices today. The tone ot
all cereals at the close was firm, with
wheat unchanged to 'Ac up, corn varying
from a shade lower to HS-c advance,
and oats the same as Saturday night to
He off. Provisions finished at 2H to 20c
decline.
Wheat, after an early show of weak
ness, made a decided rally, the result
chiefly of a big decrease In tho United
States visible supply. Liberal export
clearances of wheat and flour acted also
as an Influence in favor of the bulls.
Furthermore, the Chicago stock of wheat
diminished In a way that attracted con
siderable attention.
World's shipments larger than expected,
had much -to do with causing tho wheat
market to sag in the first half of the
session. The effect of this and other
cable news, however, was hot of a lasting
character, especially as offerings were
being well absorbed by resting orders in
tho hands of the principal commission
concerns. One of the chief houses in

CATTLE Receipts wero very liberal at
this point. 210 cars being reported. . In
other words tho receipts were more than
double what they were on Monday last
week, but no larger than they wero n
jour ago. Unofrtunately at tho same
lime that receipts wero very uuerai at
this point there was an overwhelming
run at Chicago. Earlv advices from
there Indicated a severe slump In the
market, which naturally had a very de
pressing effect unon the trnde here.
Buyers ot all klnda of cattle were slow
and lute In gottlng started, being appar
ently afraid to do very much business
until they knew more about prices pre
vailing at tho othor points. Thus a good
shnrq of tho forenoon was past before
buyers and sellers really got tog6(her on
a trading basis, There was no question,
however, about prices being sharply
lower, buyers as a rule demanding a
concession of 104fl5o as compared 'with
last week's close. Although sellers wero
naturally reluctant to take off, it seemed
Impossible to inovo the cattle unless buy
era views were met.
In tho end some of tho best yearling
btoves commanded about steady prices,
und th best fat hclfors also sold about
as well as last weok's close. Asldo from
those oxceptions, the most of tho cattle
sold lOtfluc lower as notod above.

CHICAGO, Dec, 15,-An attack on the

that the virtual amalgamation has re

bill recites:
"In furtherance of the alleged con

a meeting on November 14 and passed
a resolution authorising an Increase, of
tho, capital stock of the gas company
from $35,00,0)0 to $50,000,000."
