Among the prin cipal considerations was a resolution that the federation was heartily In favor of the retention of Nathan Bernstein by the school board and his promotion to Ms farmer standing as an educator at the high school, and a committee was or dered to present copies of the resolution to the school board. The matter of empaneling juries waa considered and representatives of the various clubs were asked to present sug gestion at the next meeting for a better system than now is tn use. The federation went on record at fa voring the retention of the Auditorium by the city until a chance comes to get i better -one. NEW YORK JTOCK MARKET Sesiion Differs Little from Pre ceedinp Sleepy Onei. SMALL DECLIlfE AT OUTSET HeaTlnrss of Cop'pers Acts as nratr on the "Whole List Cash (Sain for Banks Pre dicted. NEW YOniv, Nov. Sl.-There was little to distinguish today's stock market from the sleepy sessions which have preceded It this week, although tho tone waa bet ter. At tho outset there was a small de cline, owing presumably . to the Influence of tho dragging market for American stock )n Iondon and the sharp break in copper metal prices abroad. The market showed greater recuperative power than yesterday, howover, and the opening losses were soon msilo -up, .some of the leaders "rising well above ho previous close. Speculation divlndlcd a the day advanced and Woes eased off" slightly from the. high, point, but (hero .we.ro no sinus of general weakness, despite the marked htaVInV-ss lit Individual cases. Heaviness of the conners acted as a drag on the whole list. The. break In London metal prices was followed by the report that some producers 'wore offering copper tn the domestic market at 16 cents. Pessimism was increased by news, that reduction In working forces, heretofore confined principally to steel mills, had spread to other Industries. A cash gain for the banks on the week was predicted, despite shipments of $2,500,000 to Canada, making the woek's shipment, to the domlnton $3,600,000. Fur ther shipments across tho bonier are expected, on account of tho extensive movement of Canadian grain to export Much of the grain Is going forward' through American points, and selling of grain bills here places large balances to the credit of . Canadian banks, Bonds were less valuable than stocks, despite cessation of liquidation or somo issues. Total sales, par value, $1,2SO,000. United States bonds were unchanged on call.
