CORN UP TO EXPECTATIONS Tear's "VleM Mrmnrta lip to the Es timate Held night Alonir by the IMt Traders In the Vellorr Cereal. OMAHA. Nov. It, 1918. It was lmot a complete reversal ot conditions surrounding the wheat market yesterday beoauce of the strength at Liverpool, coupltd with unfavorable crop news from the southern hemisphere. The day's tain at the big English market amounted to ttfjlo and this, too. In the face of enormous world shipments, as compared with those ot a week ago. The fear of the English mllltra that their auppltM ar Uaaly to continue to dwindle, as the continent Is Getting a large part ot the grain, was the cause ot the fctrenfrth there. Word came from Winni peg that there were Urea transactions there In wheat on United Kingdom ac count, and that this wheat will be ship ped abroad as rapidly aa possible. The buvlrur of wheat yesterday was led by professionals and was not as strong; as the selling-, un the nave nee mo larger commltslon housed filled up all comers, and some of them sold on the weak spots. It was a market that was boosted by the Argentine cables and these were in vldenca through half a dosen different Channel. Cash wheat ws Ho higher. The total yield of corn this year was about as looked tor by the trade caused little change In sentiment after the close yesterday. Corn prices for the day were uu. Mtrhr rinn at th surnrtsea was the strength shown In the face of colder weather, snorts were inn pnnjm era and there was some corn taken n Investment account. . , . . . Cash com was unchanged to Ho hlBner. Data ruled higher early, but the ad v.. I.., ini.r nnlv Mventy-three oars were received at Chicago and 887.000 bushels at western points. Cash oats were Unchanged to HQ nigner. Provisions were high all around, fol lowing an advance of ItoK&c In the price of hogs at the yards. The averag weight of hogs at Chicago and South Omaha last week, were tha lightest in two year. The offerings were mainly by- longsu while shorts were the best buyers. There are some In the trade who believe that the raw material has been on a forced level. Clearances of wheat were 811,000 bu.; wrn. 8.060 bu.; oats. 18,000 bu. At Liverpool wheat closed unchanged to 'Ad higher and corn UHd lower. CARLOT RECEIPTS. , Wheat. Corn, Oats, Chicago Minneapolis Duluth Omaha Kansas City ... in 112 .403 .m . 10 62 a 71 S8 it S3 Mt. Widening of the damaged area In Argentina turned tha wheat market today upgrade after there had been a material setback In prices. Tha close was nervous, varying from last night's figures to HttHC aavance. umer leading staples all showed a net loss; torn. HHo to t4UHc,; oats, Ho to HCHo, and provisions, SHo to 10c Increasingly serious news eame from Posa Rio and Buenos Ay res in regard to crop Injury by drouth throughout a large portion ot the Argentine wheat belt. One dispatch spoke of ruin beyond repair over a region amounting to 1.150,000 acres In the south part of Duenos Ayres Brovlnce. Other advices said the Rahla lanea and Pampas districts wera badly hurt, extending west ot a line from Aparlco to I.es Mostavos and from Tree Peaces on to Rivera. It was on adverse report of this kind that tha market rallied nearly a cent a bushel with ex cited buying on the advance. One house alone was credited with acquiring more than 1.00O.00Q bushels. Uncertainty as to how far tho Argentine damage stretched was largely responsible for tho early weakness In wheat. Ex perts were also ot the opinion that timely rains might yet Induce a vigorous growth. Such Influences, however, lost effect when more definite dispatches ar rived from south of tho Kauador. Note was taken, too. of the extreme meager neas of primary arrivals, the whole United Status, aside from Minneapolis and Dututh. obtaining less than 2W.000 hushels. Government crop figures heavily In creased, compared with tha estimate a month ago, depressed com. Favorable weather for husking tended likewise to keep down prices. The oats market suf fered on account of continued offerings of Canadian cargoes. Commission houses nevertheless were fair buyers at modcr. ate decline. Unloading by packers and stockyard firms rased provisions. Sales were chiefly of lard. Futures closed a follows; Article! Clore.l High. Low. Close. Y'a'y. LIQUIDATION NOT APPARENT Outside Influences IMar Little Part In Shaplns Coarse of the Market Roads Are Irreftnlnr. NEW YOnK, Nov. ll-Quotatlons moved upward on the stock exchange today as abruptly as they declined yes terday. There was no sign of the liquidation which was the most disquiet ing feature ot the preceding session and both railroad and industrial shares ad vanced strongly. Higher prices were well maintained until the last hour, when a swift reaction cancelled a large part of the day's gains. The change in the market apparently was due primarily to the strong techni cal position. Outside Influences played little part In shaping the course of the market, al though the more cheerful view, which was taken pt the Mexican situation, was a factor In the upturn. It waa felt that feara of an Immediate crisis in the coun trv' yM&tlona with Mexico had been ex aggerated In the street. Buying for fvr- elgn account helped in me upwara swing. London traded here freely, taking about 12,000 shares at balance. The copper stocks were benefited by the rally In copper metal abroad. Bear traders sought to make capital of v.
