GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET Undertone in Wheat is Somewhat ' Stronger in the Pit ARGENTINA SELLERS PLEASES Corn They Have Shipped to the United States and Canada Brings Them Better Prices Than They Bxpacted. OMAHA, Oct 23, 1513. The undertone In wheat was a stronger ona yesterday and while the prtc gains were omy ho they tailed to reflect the bullish sentiment existing; they show that all tba wheat that la thrown upon the market around the present level will be absorbed by strong hand. It must bo remembered that the liquidation by longs and the short selling was on an enormous scale, and that there la a likelihood of a change coming with the bulls tn control for a time, in the absence, of a. brisk cash demand the beat's seem to be ready to attack the- market every time there re signs ot weakness. Cash wheat was Ho higher. The holders of corn in Argentina stem to be well pleased with the price realised tor the grain sold to the United States and Canada, as an additional cargo was sold via Galveston, Tax., at 70c A Chi. cago house was offered ZGO.OOu bushels late yesterday at 2o over the Chicago May option, sacks Included, laid do n at either Boston or Portland, boat to clear by November SO. The corn waa ottered guaranteed and the sacks are worth 2U 3c each. This would mean TIMo for this corn, while the price of Chicago corn laid down In New England would be SOc. Tho likelihood Is that tha exportable sur plus now held on the Argentina reports will be forced upon buyers unless prices fcro let down too sharply. According to the most reaent estimate there are still 14,030,000 bushels of corn to come out of the southern hemisphere. Manufacturers In this country will likely avail them selves of this cheaper corn and It Is believed, that It will be against the price of our own grain. Some of the larger and keener speculators on the Chicago Board ot Trade are numbered among tha longs In corn. They believe that a bull movement of great Importance will b seen before the holidays roll around, and this will be brought about by the absence of free sales by the country and on in crease In the demand for the cash. There is a big open Interest In this grain and ks one man put It last night, it would take tha shorts many weeka to even up their position were they to go Into the pit and bid for the grain jfhjnch they sold at a lower level than Is now current Cash corn was UHo higher, Cash oats were Ktftfo higher. rr,T"ilow,nK cah I were reported: yihee.t-No. 3 hard winter: J cars, 7Uo: 1 car, 78Hc. Beef steers were In fair demand and moderate supply. The trade became reasonably active and tha bulk of tH offering changed hands In good season in the morning. The prices paid ranged anywhere from steady to possibly a trifle stronger as compared with yesterday. Therq were oornfeds In the yards, good enough to bring $9.10. Cows and heifer also were In good demand and trad on that kind ot cattle waa more active' than It had been for a number of days bock. The prices paid werA steady with yesterday and In some cases sellers thought they secured pos sibly a little stronger grlces for tha more desirable kinds. Btockera and feeder wera In moderate upply so far a fresh receipts wera con cerned, bpt thero were a large number ot cattle still in the hands ot speculators, that had been carried over from Tues day a the result of the speculative buying waa limited and there were not many buyers In from the country. Thus It happened that the market aa a whole waa very dull and the feeling naturally weak.
