Right Way to Use the Electric Iron With proper care an electric Iron should last many years; some Irons aro now guaranteed for ever. As a reminder of tho correct manner n wliloh this useful dsvlco should b treated tho following nformatlon is given: 7FWai Referring to the Illustration herewith, "A" is tho plug receptacle on the iron, "B" is tho plug on ono end of the flexi ble cord which fits into "A," and "C" is the terminal plug on tho other end Of the floxlbie cord which screws Into tho lamp socket from which the current Is taken to heat tho iron. (1) When ready to iron, remove tho In candescent lamp from a socket noar where you intend working. (2) If the plug"B" is Inserted in tho rtccptaolo "A" on the iron, remove it (3) Bcrew tho plug "C" into the lamp socket from which tho lamp has been removed. W Turn on the current by turning tho key on tho lamp socket Just as you would to switch on the light. (5) Insert plug "B" into receptacle "A" and stand the Iron upright on its flat end, or set it on the ironing stand. (6) The electric current is now flowing Into the iron and is beginning to heat it. In two minutes tho iron will be ready for dry pressing, and in four minutes any kind of Ironing may bo done. In case tho Iron gets too hot while working, Simply removo "n" from "A," putting them together again when the iron has cooled off sufficiently, Vhcn your ironing is finished pull "B" from "A," and then turn tho key on thti socket to switch off tho current. If, when connected according to tho above lutructton, the iron falls to heat, examine, first, to see if the key on the socket Is turned on! second, see that "C Is firmly screwed into place. An electric iron will stand a lot of hard service, even abuse, but there ore somo things which the us-sr must not do. Hence, these few "don'ts;" Don't dip the Iron In water. Don't try to turn the current on and off with the socket key as you would n lamp follow tho directions given abovo.
