gram.) Applegato was as wild as a
March -hare and O'Brien, who succeedod
him1, . was little ebtter, Ltncitn romplni;
off Vlth the second game, 7 to 2. Lin
coln got Its first three three runs In the
third Inning, a single, three walks and
two hits batsmen.
Tho fourth Inning saw Applegate's re
tirement when three hits and a walk,
including a triple by Lloyd and a double
by Cole netted three more scores. O'Brien
took up the burden and while Lincoln got
but one .run In tho remainder of the
game, there were men on bases In every
Inning.
.Stiilth had Omaha helpless in nearly
every Inning and eased up after Lincoln
had!scured a 'six-run lead. Coyle started
auspiciously In tho first by tripling with
one dow,n but perished at third.
Omaha's, first run came In tho fifth on
Johnson's single, which went for two
bags when Donovan let the ball go
through' him, and Applegate's clean sin
gle to center. Omaha got another In the
seventh on Johnson's double to the right
field fence, and Justice's, scratch Infield
hit. .
Coyle singled to center In the eighth
with' one down, but tho next two were
easy outs.

The second game between Trenton and

ton. Games were managed here, for the

BELLINGHAM. Wash., Aug. 16,-Throe
fast automobiles, carrying nine runners,
sped away from this city at B o'clock this
morning on tho first lap of the third an
nual Mount Baker Marathon. On reach-
Jnc the base of the mountain the runners
humped from the cars and began their
long, hard climb to the summit.
Although tho mountain waa swept by
a heavy snowstorm yesterday, It was
expected that good time would be made.
The tlmo of last year's raco waa 9 hours,
