P1.1"? .on tho Board of Trade, it Is

"VJB. ns tholr business la badly needed,
mith the Interior speculator Interested
on the bull side, tho man of Wall street
ana those who are In cotton, copper and
other speculative commodities are certain
to take a "whirl" in tho Chicago grain
pits. Wall street has boen in wheat,
corn and oats at odd times for several
years past, but the speculators from tho
east have been the losers for many years
until this season, when they cleared up
goodly profits on the bull side of corn.
The New York "cotton crowd" also made
money in corn, but the latter dropped a
large bundle of money In wheat.
It will be recalled that during the
ripening of tho winter wheat crop there
were many sensational advances on tho
total losses In Kansas and elsewhere.
The threshing returns show the Sun-
tlower state will have at least 83,0u0,000
ousneis and mat mere is a possibility ot
an outturn of 00,000,000 bUBhels, which
would mean an uverago yield of fifteen
bushels to the acre.
One of the best posted men in 'the wheat
trade at Chicago is of the opinion that
larmers who raise corn and wheat both
will refuse to sell their wheat at a time
when the price of the golden cereal is
at such a narrow margin below that of
wheat. It is said that at least three of
the large speculators in the country are
now lone wheat in the belief that farm
ers will not sell wheat freely, and that
nearly all of tho wheat sold thus far has
come out because of the calling of the
loans by banKs or tnat it has been tne
property of renters, who were obliged
to have money with which to pay ground
rent. Cash wheat was Ho to He higher.
Cash corn was fio to 1V4C higher.
Elevator men throughout tho country
are beginning tb clear their houses of old
oats, as tho new crop is expected to ar
rive in a couplo of weeks. Cash, oats
were Ho higher.
Clearances were none of corn, 104,000
bushels of Oats and wheat and flour
equal to 343,000 bushels'.
Liverpool closed Hd higher on wheat
and ttd higher orl corn.
Primary wheat receipts were 2,423,000
bushels and shipments were 1,228.009 bush
els, against receipts last year of 1.6S5,000
bushels and shipments of 609.000 bushels.'
Primary wheat receipts, were 640,000
bushels and shipments were 651,000 bush
els, against receipts last year of 617,000
bushels and shipments of 260,000 bushels.
Primary oats receipts were 870,000 bush
els and shipments were 453,000 bushels,
against receipts last year of 403,000 bush

fair for a Monday, there being about 9-1
cars or e.sw neaa reportea in. This is
lust about ths same as tor last Monday
and Is over 1,500 larger than the tamo day
last year,
The trade today waa very similar to last
week's markets. Shippers were the first
buyers out, and they picked up quite a
few loads ot the good to choice lights
and butchers at prices that were fully
steady. Packers! were Inclined to lower
prices a little, and made their first bids
at figures that were fully 5o and In many
cases 69100 lower. Sellers refused to
make tne concessions demanded and held
their offerings at prices that wera vary
nearly steady. After nearly twp hours of
Inactivity, the traders finally got together

i?IIEKP Receipts of sheop and lambs
were very liberal this morning, fifty-
eltrht enra hxlnff retmrieil In tha Vardi.
This was the largest run for any day
since tno miuuia ot April, as a manor
or course Oregon and Idaho supplied the
most of tho run, A very large propor
tion of the offerings consisted ot fat
stock, there being only a small propor
tion of feeder sheep or lambs.
The largo run of itself would not
have beet) sufficient to havo broken tho
market In the face ot the demand, hut
the fact that there has boen a feeling for
soma days that prices at thin point were
high as compared wtlh those being paid
at some other soiling points had a tell
ing effect upon the market With so
giany fat sheep and lambs to select from
uyers representing packing houses wrre
able to take their time In filling orders,
with tho result that tho trade was vory
stow from start to finish, this being truo
of alt kinds of fat stock, both sheep and
lambs At the same tlmo they wero able
to bear the market until prices wero'
aroind a quortor lower than last week.
wnen tne ice was once oroKen ana in
receipts began moving the trade livened
up a little and a. considerable proportion
of the receipts changed hands in fair
season.
For a Monday there was a gooa acai
of lnauirv for feeder sheen and lambs
and the few here sold at prices that
did not show much chango as compared
