This wai tlio result of lower lt!(U lent to trtu country rium Chicago, coupled with a hardening In ocean freights nnd an almost complete Mandatlll in the sales of wheat for for eign shipment. There were unconfirmed leporu of Blxty loads for export. Wheat wns lower at Chicago, and it was under Pressure; during the entire session. The looses were 1 cent and the fact that the tuarby montha were the wtakes. told of the probable increase in t.. offering of the ncW crop from this time lorward. Notwithstanding the fact that the pur chases In the country were much smaller on Chicago account, there were over 1,(00,000 bushels of wheat received at primary markets yesterday, which was nearly thrie times, greater than the re ceipts tor the corresponding day last yta. THe news from the spring wheat coun try on both sides of tho International line was encouraging to the bears. Rains where needed were reported In the United StatcH and conditions for the better were shown north of the International line. The fact that shorts bought a. great deal of wheat at Chicago yesterday, "In order to secure profits, held prices nt n level above where the close would have been mode had not this demand been In evidence. Cash wheat llHo lower. Oscar K. Lyle, ono of tho oldest crop export men and a man who knows con ditions when he sees them, was on the board of trade yesterday from a trip throughout the entire country, and in speaking of . tho promised crop of corn laid that with rains at intervals as Deeded alt records will have been smashed during 1913. CaBh corn was W3Ha lower. Farmers are now convinced that to nolo oats any longer will mean additional losses to them, and it looks as it they will all endeavor to merchandise their holdings as rapidly an cars can Te se cured to carry It to points of distribution. Cash oats were HHo lower. Clearances of wheat and flour were 183.000 bushels; corn, 37,000 bushels; oats, l,0O) bushel. Liverpool wheat closed V4 lower; corn,. Ho lower. Wlieat prices fell to a lower lovel today fur Juiy and September than had been repoited be foro at any time this season. Excellent rains of advantage to Uie entire spring crop had much to do with making the market weak. Tho' closo which wai nearly at the bottom point reached a net loss of liOlHc to IH8P2c net. Corn finisned to aown; cais off. Vt to o and provisions varying from 10c decline to a like advance. General selling of wheat by longs bore down Uie market from the outset. Cables were lower and there seemed to be no evidences of export demand. About the only demand there wns came from shorts who were taking profits. Hedging sales due to a large run of winter wheat to market had an Increas ing bearish effect In the laBt half ot the day. Primary receipts for twenty four hours amounted to 1,157,000 bushels against 632,000 bushels a year ago. This completed an average of more than a million bushels a day arriving at tho principal terminals throughout the week. Seaboard clearances of wlieat nnd flour today equaled only 133,000 bushels. Sentiment In the corn crowd became rampantly bearish as a result of tho continued fine weather and the Improved outlook for the growing crop. Owners unloaded on an extensive scale. Oats broke with other grains. One house alone disposed of more than 1.000.0W bushels. Action In the pit had a see-saw char acter. The reason wm that firmness of the hog market conflicted with sym pathy for the weakening of the cereals. OMAHA LIYEJTOCK MARKET Killing Cattle Fifteen to Quarter Higher Than Week Ago. A very good market nas prevnueu nearly all week, as viewed by the sell ing sldo of the trade. Notwithstanding liberal receipts Killing iambs nave scored n sharp advance and trado has been fairly lively most ot the time, Thursday was the only day when the movement wan a Ilttlo stow with a lower tendency to prices and It seems to be the consen sus ot opinion among traders that mar ket at the end of tho week closed In a fairly healthy condition wtih lambs sell ing 3OU40a better than a week ago. The valub tt trade in feeding lambs has been ry fair and values on them have also shown an Improvement, current quota ttons being around lOtffOo above those at the close of the previous week un tho other hand, wnita weiucrs nave also been In good supply and good sellers on most aays. present vaiuns nro jusi about the same ns a week ago. The arrivals imye consisted very largely ot com fed steers, tho per centage ot cows and heifers being very much smaller than during previous years. This Would seem to Indicate that thn country Is conserving its breeding stock. Beef steers, although constituting the great big bulk ot the receipts, have never- neiess peen in very moderate supply. At the same time there has been an active buying demand and under the Influence ot this condition Driers have gradually advanced and at the close ot the week tho mantel is quoiea lbitzbc higher than a week ago. Tho advance has been the most marked on good to choice yearlings. Light ana medium weight cattle of good quality iuve luso enown more advance man nave tho heavier cattle. On the .other hand It would be well for the cduntry to alt. ways bear tn mind that light cattle lack ing In quality and flesh uro hard to inovo, owing to the fact that thoy come Into ireci competition wtin tne cneap south ern came. Cowb and heifers have been In nctlva demand all week ai)d, as the supply has been extremely small, prices nuve been strengthened materially and can safely be quoted 1520c higher than a "week ago. Bulls have been good sellers all the week, the same as last week and at fully steady prices. Veal calves during the latter Dart of the week firmed up, the best calves snowing an advance oi zoc, the tops reaching $9.75 . Stockerg and feeders have boon In bet ter demand than usual at this season ot the year, but the supply has been very small. In consequence of this values have been very firm every day and the market In a good healthy condition. HOGS Receipts at this point were fairly liberal, but other markets reported very light supplies and higher prices, and while packers tried for a while to hold values down. In the end they registered a slight advance. On the whole, the market was anywhere' from strong' to 5 cents higher, and tn some instances, as In the case of tops, showed a full nickel advance Early trade was rather slow, but towards the close It livened up some what, and everything was disposed ot In fair season. Bulk of the hogs sold at $8.7038.75, and as high as $8.95 was paid for choice lights. The shipping demand Hhnwed a. little Improvement this morn. lng, and a fair, share of the supply was sold to outside Interests. For the ween raiues snow very little change. Tops today are 17tto higher than at the close of last week, but this is due to the Improvement In the shipping demand, and the average gain does not amount to over 1 or corns, nt tne out side. Values have fluctuated all week, and while receipts have been compara tively moderate, a rather llcht nacklnir demand on some days has served to hold values down. Receipts today numbered about-137 cars, or 9,100 head, bringing the total for the week up to 49,881. This la over 2,000 larger than the five market days of last week, but falls nearly 2,000 short ot the a year mu, Ko. At. 8b. Pr. Ko. At. 8h. Pr. It 144 ...
