CHICAGO, III., June 22,-GhIcaeo and
St. Louis spilt a double-header here today
In two thrilling battles, the score be
ing 2 to 0 In each. The flrBt game, which
was won by -the visitors, was af struggle
between Scott, who set the season's
strike out record with fifteen, and Lever-
enz, who held the locals to two hits.
In the second, Walsh's heady pitching
and clever fleldrlng back of him kept
8tt Louie from scoring despite the pre
ponderance of hits In the visitors favor.
Hal Chase, making his first local appear
ance as a member of the Chicago club,
scored both runs, two triples by Collins
sending 'him In. Chae's all round work
was a feature. Scott's perfect performance
In the first game was remarkable. In
the sixth and seventh he struck out every
batter who faced him. Leverenr, how.
ever, was Invincible and the two hits
made off his delivery were rather doubt
ful ones. He was aided by some good
fielding. Lavans, the University of Mich
igan recruit, played so clever a gome at
short stop that he was constantly cheered
by the big crowd.
