FIFTEEN RUNS FOR ROURKES
Fourteen Hits Off Dessau and Lin
coln's Errors Win for Locals.
SEVEN SCORES OFF APPLE GATE
Antelope Start Game Hitting,
Fielding and Running? Oases Like
Champion, but Torn In For
tunes Soon Come.
Omaha jumped on Pitcher Dessau, of
the Unco In Antolopes In yesterday's
Earns and by taking advantage of num
erous errors chased fifteen runs across
the plate, while Hughle Jones' bunch
managed to shove seven men over.
It was one of those old-fashioned slug
ging matches in which the players got
up and pushed the ball as far away
from the home plate as they could.
Omaha managed to make fourteen of
these clouts, five of which were two
base swats and one a three-bagger, the
latter being credited to Eddie Justice,
and It was the only safe one he gath
ered. The game was truly and honestly won
'by Jlmmle Kane, who slammed out a
double In tho fifth Inning with the bases
crowded'. He followed this up with an
extra base hit In the next frame.
Tho 'Lopes started out fielding like
wildfire, but after making a few sensa
ttonat stops, camo down to their level
and before the game was over had rung
upflve boots, and there was no ques
tion about them being boots, either. The
Lincoln gang started out to steal a large J
number of bases also, but after the sec
ond Inning there was nothing doing, the
Lopes having taken advantage of;
"Hick" Johnson In the first two In
nings, "illck" is suffering from a bad
arm and was retired In favor of Shealilk.
Jlmmle Kane was most active In the
base-running business yesterday, steal
ing three bags. In the etghth Inning)
he and Congalton worked a pretty dou
ble steal, Kane getting third before
Baker knew what was being attempted.
Lincoln First to Score.
Lincoln started out strong, getting
two runs in the opener. With one down,
Mullen doubled. Cobb and McCormlck
also strolled. Knapp struck out and Bar
bour walked, forcing Mullen over the
(
plate. An error by Grubb let codd score.
In the second, Lloyd walked,- stole second
and scored on Cobb's single.
Applegate opened the third for Omaha
'with a double, scoring on Neff's single.
Justice was safe In the fifth on an error.
Neff beat out a bunt. Thomoson walked,
filling the bases. Kane doubled, scoring
threo runs.
Six Runs Scored by Omabn.
Applegate was safe In the sixth when
he forced Schlpko at second. Justice
tripled, scoring Applegate. Neff ambled
across the plate on Kane's double. Con
galton followed with a similar one, while
Thomason and Jlmmle rambled home.
Connie registered on Shestak's single,
Lincoln got two in the seventh, Mul
len landed safe on an error by Justice.
Cobb doubled and both scored on Col
lins' single. In the ninth Mullen dou
bled and scored on McCormlck's' double,
Collins Bingled. McCormlck tallied on
Barbour's sacrifice fly.
Kane waS safe. In the eighth on an
error. Congalton singled. A double steal
l .rnrkrd successfully. Grubb landed
safe when ' Cobb dropped his high fly,
and Kane and Congalton scored. Schlpke ,
singled, scoring Grubb. Applegate sin-1
gled and both scored when Dowllng made i
a wild peg to - first of
Justice's easy
grounder. Score:
