OHICAGO GRAIN AND PROVISIONS
Features of the Trading: nnd Cloalns
Prloea on Donrd of Trade.
CHICAGO, June' 6. Largo sales of cash
wheat today for prompt shipments out of
Chicago had a rallying effect on deferred
deliveries. Although the market closed
weak, latest prices ranged from Ho- oft
to H6Hc net advance. Com finished H
HQHo and provisions increased in cost
Jtta&a to 16c
Bullish sentiment in wheat was fur
ther aided by grain dealers estimating the
Kansas harvest as low as 70.000.00 bush
els and reducing the Oklahoma forecast
to 16,000,000.
Stook market weakness had a depress
ing effect on wheat prices at tno outset,
and again was Influential near the close.
Taking the day as a whole, however, the
bulls had the advantage, which was em-
pnasizea rsy adverse crop aavices rrom
Missouri.
Export clearances of wheat and flour
were liberal, being eaual to 899.000 bush
els. Primary receipts of Nvheat wore 432,000
nusiveis; a year ago, s&3,wu ousnois.
Rural offerings of corn were not yet
equal to merchandising requirements. In
consequence, after an early dip due to
fine weather, the market strengthened,
and the close was the highest so far on
the crop. Big consignments weakened
oats.
Packers hoisted the provisions market
ana counteracted heavy selling, thought
to be on foreign account The selling re
ferred to was mainly in October lard and

CATTLE There was a very respeat&blo
Thursday's run of oattlo on the markot
The quality was very good as a rule
and tradliur waa active and strnru? from
start to finish. As usual all classes of
buyers wonted the fat, light and handy
weLght steers, and these sold to the best
advantage, choice yearlings selling up
to 38.60. There was also healthy compe
tition for the, best of tha heavy and me
dium-weight cattle and quite a tew sales
were made around 33.-03v.30. For the big
bulk ot tho fair to good cattle. It was a
steady to strong market with sales
largely at $7.7698.10. As compared with
a week njrn. most of the more desirable
yearlings are selling as much as 15XKo
higher, although the general market
could hardly bo quoted more than 1016a
higher. Undertone to the trade, howover,
ts healthy and strong and the demand
better and broader than it has been for
two or three weeks.
Thero wen only a few loads ot cows
and heifers Included In, tho fresh re
ceipts, and, with a good demand from all

HOGS Receipts this morning amounted
to about 131 on rp, or 8,800 head, making
the total for th four days B9,0C1 head.
This Is about 12,600 head larger than the
same days last week, nnd Is over 15.000
heavier than the corresponding period a
year ago.
While the supply was moderate sharr
slumps at other points tended to Influenci
a fresh break here and packers madt
their first bids at figures that were 6l0c
lower than yesterday's general market
Salesmen were of the opinion that after
yesterday's strong closo values todaj
oiigni to no nearly steady, and conse
quently they rofusod to make the con
cessions demanded by the packers. Tht
result of this was that with the exception
of a few loads sold to Speculators and
shippers nothing was. done before 1C
o'clock. About this time packers Seeing
that the would not till their orders at
tho prices they had been offering, raised
their hands and started offerlnir nrltva
that looked to bo just a shade lower
than yesterday's general market. Sellers
had been holding their hogs at higher
figures, but after the slow proceedings' of
the early morning these last bids ot the
packers looked pretty good to them and
the supply began to move on a slightly
mwer isvei. nvon a. tnis time traae was
vtry alow and at 11 o'clock there wore
still quite a row loads In first hands,
The bulk ot the hogs sold at $3.1&g&20,
Shippers bought several loads early at
slightly shsded figures, paying as high
as $8.2. for best lights.
