Dairy Inspector Bole h maIe hli
monthlr report to the cttr health de
partment on the condition of the dairies
which are mipplrlne milk to cuatomers In
Omaha.
The report follow:
"In aubmlttlnK my report for the month
of Hay, upon aanltary condition of the
dalrlen. I dealre to call your attention
also to the average butter-fat and bac
teria content. I hava taken the time to
average the aamplea taken thua far this
year of each and every dairy aelllng- milk
In Omaha, and t aame opposite the
scores. In addition to aeortnn the dairies,
I have visited several so-called "next
door" or "neighborhood dairies" and have
mado considerable headway In bavins
them put In a sanitary condition as well
as havlntr all cows at such places tuber
culin tested. In one case only wan I
compelled to arrast anyone, and In this
instance the offender was fined $30 and
costs.
"I desire also to call your attention to
the result ot the annual tuberculin test,
recently completed. Of the nearly 2,000
dairy cows tested, less than 17 per cent
rea'cted, and were condemned, all ot
which have been removed from the herds.
"I think It would be advisable to use
your Influence with the state veterina
rian to the end that the dairy cows on
all -farms that are sending; milk Into
Omaha be tubcrlln tested. If this can
not be done I recommend that our ordi
nance be so amended, In other words,
that the farmer who sells his milk In
Omaha be made to come up to the same
standard of cleanliness and efficiency as
other dairymen who must bo to a con
siderable expense to meet the require
ments of our ordinances, and compete
with farmera who do not even think of
keeping their herda or bams clean. In
justice and fair play to alt, let us try
and make some provision other than the
temporary welcome aid that our state
food commissioner Is giving; us. We should
hav.e some permanent system of farm In
spection; our people have not yet begun
to realize the ever Importance of a clean
milk supply. A partial verbal report ot
the state Inspector now working; among
the- farmers of this section would startle
Anyone. I Insist that we need permanent
Inspection, and I hope that you can see
your way clear to try and secure same,
Possibly some provision could be made In
the new charter to set aside a certain
amount for this purpose. Think It over, I
am ready to assist you.

of May:

Every Woman Wants a Glean, Comfortable, Sanitary Kitchen
We are now telling you how you may have one with a saving of money and labor
1
ALMOST eyery home in Omaha contains a gas range. Al
most every Omaha housewife knows that' the gas
2 range is the best and most economical cooking device
for either summer or winter.
But, in order to have your kitchen arrangements perfect
you should also have a Gas Water Heater which will give you
plenty of hot water at any time and for any purpQse, ,with a
small consumption of gas, and which will enable you to discon
tinue using the coal range with all its work, annoyance and
dirt .
r The "Lion" Circulating Water Heater is a Bimple litfle
affair which is easily connected to the water boiler in your
kitchen and which does not interfere with the coal range con
nection to the boiler, if such connection exists.
Look at the Picture on This Page
It shows the woman touching a match to the simple gas
burner of the "Lion" water heater. After lighting the gas
she closes the door and the water begins to heat at once. In
five minutes she can have enough hot water for washing dishes
without heating all the water in the boiler. In thirty minutes
she can heat enough for the bath or washing clothes. The gas
consumed to heat water for washing dishes amounts to but a
Email fraction of a cent, and for the bath or washing clothes,
tide cost is about three cents.

This Is Our Liberal Offer:
Wie will install a "Lion" Water Heater in your residence
and ask you to make a first payment of only $2.50. Then you
may pay $1.50 a month with your gas bills until the total amount
$18, 3 paid. This means that you may enjoy the use of a gas
water heater while paying for it.
Why continue to keep a hot coal fire going all the time in
order to get a little hot water now and then? Bon't you know
that the coal range is a relic of bygone days, just as the oil
lamps and the back yard pump? The time is past when any
woman need swelter in a hot kitchen throughout the summ;.
when we make it so easy for her to do her work in a cool, coi
foxtable kitchen.
Remember that the Gas Water Heater burns gas only wEen
you are heating water. The moment that you have enough hot
water you shut off the gas, and the expense etopB af once.
We Are Today Beginning1 a Campaign to Place
the tfcLION" Gas Water Heater in
General Use in Omaha.
Our representatives will go from house to house, explain
ing this wonderful water heating device. We will also have a
demonstration in our store and invite our consumers to come
in and see how easily, quickly and economically the "Lion"
heats water.
