"When the delegate of the Omaha Lot tor Carrier' association so to Son Fran cisco (or the national association meet ing there August 90, they will so deter mined and equipped to bring the biff as sociation meeting to Omaha for It nest session, which will be In 191S. There will be eight delegate from th Omaha branch to attend, the Sao Frandeoo meet ing. The carrier In Omaha are going to make a systematic campaign In Omaha Sot funds to be used In an effort to get this big convention .here for the next' meeting after this summer. The national body generally comprise over 1,800 dele gate, and the local carriers and many business men are anxious to get that body to hold the next convention. In Omaha. Having learned a lesson at the last national meeting, Uie Omaha curriers nre determined never again to go after the convention for Omaha until they have some money with which to boost. This they learned at Rochester, N. Y at the last meeting, when they had hoped to pull tor this year's meeting at Omaha. They had raised J30 to he used In boost ing for Omaha, but when they got on the ground they found that Ban Fran cisco wag also boosting for this year's convention. The Ban Francisco dele gates had established headquarters In one of the hotels and were entertaining delegates royally. They had t2,C00 with them to spend on festivities, and the last night the San Francisco delegation pave a balL The Omaha delegation, with Its 50, kepttvery quiet. But this year they expect to go armed with some money worth while. V. C, Bouk and Charles B. A. Johnson are a committee of the local carriers who are to solicit among tho business men of the city for money to be used In boosting Omaha for the next convention. The locsl carrier will hold their picnic at ( Knur Dark June 2S. They expert to pre pare an elaborate printed program which j Is expected to yield them ome revenue, Fleharty Awaits Candidate to Test the Election Law If some brave candidate will now step forward and announce himself as de siring to file for nomination to a county office In Douglas county for a 1912 elec tion, the war. will be on, for the attorney who expects to test the constitutionality of the blennlel election taw Is getting hi facts marshalled for the fray. Harry B. Fleharty Is said to be working on the case and to be determined to get It Into the supreme court before that body ad journs for the summer. Word has sifted through to the ears of local politicians that testa of the constitu tionality of the blennlel election law, passed by an election In 1012. will be brought to the supreme court from Holt, Hall and Cage counties. Tet others want Douglas county to be the first to test the law. In spite of this desire, none of the candidates who have been Itching for office here for some time, have crowded In to file. B Police Force to Be Increased January 1 With $39,000 made available by action of the late legislature the Omaha police force will be Increased from eighty to 110 men beginning the first of Wit Four de tectives also will be added to the force Police Commissioner Ryder and Chief of Police Dunn believe provision will be made In the new charter to Increase the present police force.
