THE BKE: OMAHA, THTJiSDAY, APRIL 24, 1913. 11 GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET "Cotton Crowd" Absorbs All of July ion Wheat it Can Qet. Optic CORN LONGS ARE VERY ACTIVE For Some Time Iit They llnve Let Their Ilolillntt Go Whenever They Conlil Get n Profit Out ot Them. OMAHA. April 23, 1913. The cotton crowd In wheat continued to absorb the July option on the declines al most as rapidly as It was offered on the board yesterday, nnd they also bought the September option freely. On the other hand the longs In the May peddled It out In lots, and at prices ,to suit. The big men who have been lucky In cotton and corn, In which they have made a good sized fortune In the last few months, expressed the opinion that It will be Im possible for them to suffer a loss In the deferred wheat futures. They expect that tho present Ideal crop conditions will fall to hold until the harvester Is sent Into the fields In the southwest, and they also figure that there will be losses In the spring wheat country from some cause or another. Men who have been In tho wheat trade for a lifetime, say that under present crop conditions they could hardly feel more bearish on wheat, but they are advising purchases around pres ent prices because of the likelihood ot a change In the growing crop and they be lieve that change will be for the worse. For tho time being traders are content to permit the uiarket to drift In Its stag nant condition. Some stocks moved n much as a point above or below yester day's close. Tentative efforts to bid Up tho leaders accomplished little. At the same time beur traders were not Inclined to sell stocks agKi-esslvely. perhaps on account of tho belief the extent of the outstanding short Interest mado such operations hazardous. There were sev eral small swings back and torth, but the day ended with only Inconsequential con ditions. Speculation was governed by the same prices which have been operative for sorao time and which tend to repress any tendency toward activity. European buy ing, which recently loomed up ns a factor of considerable Importance, ha subsided, nt least temporarily. The form to be taxen ny mo tarirr revision bin hs nnaiiy enacted and Its effect upon buslncsR con ditions remain to bo dotermlned. Wall street Is also wutolilng with Interest, though not concern, Cullfurnla's proposed legislation affecting the Japanese. Aitnough money market conditions are easier, the outlook for extensive now cap ital requirements, which must be met within tho next few months is not en tltely clear. In view of these conditions speculative sentiment remains hesitant, with little disposition to take a pro nounced position on either side ot tho market.
