Wheat took a sharp drop today on publication of the government report giving promise of the neatest wheat crop on record. At the close prions showed a net decline of lo to Igl'.ic. Corn finished He to c net lower; oats were off 0-Hc to 4o, and provisions ranged from 20c lower to 2V4o higher. - Belief that the covernment report would show wheat conditions to be at least 90 per cent and that It possibly would be as good as 93 per cent, was entertained before the report came out. This caused arly selling that carried wheat nrices down t per cent In the first hour. A rally iook piace on a rally, nut it was snort lived for when the government's report came out showing a condition of winter wheat, that means a probable crop of 658,000,000 on a basis of 19 bushels per acre. ns against a crop or w,wo,ooo harvested last year, prices steadily declined. At the close quotations were only a shade above the low point of the day, the es Ing off of prices having been aided by reports of good rains In the wheat coun try that seemed to add to the prospects of a record crop held out by the govern, ment's figures. Corn lacked support nearly all daj After one or two feeble rallies It closed at the low point of the session, partly In sympathy with wheat. Oats followed tile downward course of other grains.
