CORN BULLS ARE STILL ACTIVE InterrM In Miif Ilellvery U Still I.arsre, fr Chlrasro Stock Will Hr Ilrttncril Trlth Open 'iiT or Xarlarntlon. OMAHA, April 7. 1913. The undertone or wheat at the present liiay be called the best of the yenr. Con V... ,"8 surrounding; wheat are abnormal. I til the promise of a crop of winter wheat of 550,000.000 bushels, with the vlst bio supply large, and with holders of proin at Duluth and Minneapolis telllns of their Inability to dispose of their wheat, coupled with blc farm reserves, the situation In the Chicago pit when the closing bell on the Board of Trade was rune last Saturday waa very bullish. There were five bulls to every bear to bo seen. There were many changes In the mat ter of sentiment during the Utter part of Inst week and these changes were brought about largely by tha, persistent I nyln? of Argentine wheat by the con tinent, coupled wlthithe fact that higher prices worn willingly paid for It. Russia hus llttlo wheat for sale at the presfciit, and from cables received In Chi cago Saturday the amount held In that country will be reduced to bedrock by the time another crop 1b available. The action of the wheat market at Chi cago shows beyond a doubt that a largo line of futures Is held there In a most roncentrnted manner. Those In. the pit who become short and who- attempt to even up their positions, cause market congestion In less time than It takes to tell It If they make an attempt to cover their short contracts. This congestion Is not only seen In tho May future, but It Is In evidence In the more deferred months. This period of strength has followed one of the longest price declines over known to the Chicago mnrket. It has followed a bear campaign fought In Chi cago by Inches by the bull longs. Those who handled cash wheat last year were said to have lost money, as the storage on their grain rnn up Into large amounts, and this they were obliged to settle. Cash wheat was unchanged. The fact was clearly demonstrated last week that the hulls In corn are not all dead by any means. Those who put out short lines and who were stubborn enough to stand were forced to take losses. The open Interest In May corn Is still large and tha stocks of contract corn will be much smaller In Chicago after the open ing of navigation, as vessel room ha already been chartered to take about C,500.0(M bushels. Cash corn was Klc higher. Oats have shown only fair activity, with shorts the principal buyers and re ceipts small, owing to the work now being done on the farms. Farmers' hold ings are of enormous size. In case the new crop goes Into the ground In shape there will be lower prices all around. Cash oats were unchanged to Ho higher.
