The last conflict In base ball between the two Institutions was won by Crelghton. This was dur Ing the year that Crelghton had her last great team. New Grnndstnnd tral High school quintet easy picking hero lost night and defeated the locals by a 34 o 25 score. Although the score was topheavy, tho visitors had a lend at all limes after the first few minutes of play. The score at The Nebruska Wesieynn basket ball five copped their eighth consecutive vic tory Saturday when they defeated the Nebraska Telephone copany five in one of the swiftest exhibitions of basket ball seen on the local Young wen unn tlan association floor, 43 to 21. The game from start to finish was fast, there being not one stnge of the game that was slow or uninteresting to the rooters. Bv the closeness of tne swore during the first half tho outcome of the game was In doubt until the visitors, by a display of team work and excellent goal throw ing, gnlncd a lead upon tho locals that was too large to cut down In the second period. The marked feature of the game was the wonderful team-work exhibited by the Wesleyanltes, who displayed a sys tem that has seldom, been seen In Omaha basket ball circles. So perfect was It, that the ball remained in the visitors' hands for several minutes at a time, which always ended up with a field goal to their credit. The name started out with the first score going to the locals, and the tele phone players were favorites with the crowd from then on, although their younger opponents obtained the best of the argument In the end. The score then see-sawed back and forth from ono side to the other, first with the visitors tn the lead and again with the locals, until tho beginning of the second period, when the locals gradually lost what team work they exhibited in the first half and allowed tho collego players to gain a lead which was too large to overcome. The locals played In hard lucK ana whenever they could get tho ball any plae near the goal, after a bit or fast team work, the chance of shooting a bas ket would, nine times out of ten, bo broken up by the wonderful guarding of the Wcsleyan guards, who were in every ninv at both ends of the floor, even fol lowing the ball so closely that they were enabled to shoot baskets, the work oi the forwards. Whenever the telephone players did havo a chance for a goal, In some hard-luck manner, tho ball would roll out Of the basket after having ap parently been succes3ful. . Star for l'llouo .lien.
