NOT MUCH TO ENCOURAGE CORN Conntrs- at Lance linn Hern Scllliig; Lively and There l No Sinn Ahead that Tends to Induce Speculative lltirlnR'. OMAHA. Jan. ?7. 1SI3. Those who believe that wheat is In strong position and those who are earn ing the big load of that grain for Mbj' delivery, as wetl as the actual wheat 111 the elevators nt Chicago, will be obliged to face some rather bearlnh statistics to. morrow morning. Among these statistics will be larger world's shipments, of which America will be the leader An Increase In the amount on ocean passage Is also among the probabilities, and the domestic visible supply Is expected to show another Increase. The latter now tops the supply of a year ago and when the Canadian visible Is Included It will be seen that 11 great deal of wheat Is now held In Amer ica, and at a time when Argentina and Australia are offering their now crops freely and at satisfactory prices to tho buying side. Besides these statistics ns bearish helps may be mentioned the dull ness In the trade with the outside as an onlooker. The professionals at Chicago and elsewhere are also onlookers, and as pearly every man In the trade believes that prices are golnu to be much lower the market Is not likely to receive any support from this Interest. A bomb was exploded in the camp of wheat bulls on Saturday In the shape of a report from New York telling of enormous quantities of flour held there, and for which there is no present demand. All or tun sea' board markets reDorted the railway ter mlnals congested with loaded cars "f riour. Philadelphia and New York re ceivers have asked their western and northern millers to refrain from making snipments until advised to do so, as the flour on track Is now unsalable because It cannot be unloaded and demurrage is being charged against It from day to day. Cash wheat, unchanged to Uc lower. The country was a seller of corn during several days of last week, and there Is llttlo at the present with which to en courage buying of the yellow cereal. Men In tho east who have pinned their faith to tho corn market at Chicago, and who have also put their money In the pit on the. board of trade, are likely to experi ence more or less trouble In escaping from their present position. Cash corn 'Ac to ic lower. Oats are likely to continue to advance or decline with the price changes in wheat and corn. Cash oats unchanged to '4c lower. Clearunces were 152,000 bushels of corn, none of oats and wheat and flour equal to 331,(100 bushels. Liverpool reported wheat and corn un changed. Unfortunately some other market points wero well loaded nnd were sending out prospects of a lower range ot prices. Reef steers were extremely slow and dull nil thu morning. Tho eastern href markets waa very unsatisfactory all la.it week for the consumption being very much reduced. As a result the demand for killing cattlo waa everywhere .slow and dull, jluyers at this point wero very late In starting out and It was evident that they did not need very many catle. Rome of them announced right at thu beginning that Ihey would buy their stuff lower pr, not buy at all. Thus tho market was slow to lOo lower all the morning. What has been said about the beef market would apply In equal degree to cows and heifers, aa they, too, were very slow and dull to aa much as lOo lower. Stock cutttle and feeders wero more aotlvo than they havo been for several days back, the lighter kinds of cattle especially selling very freely. Tho market on tho dcslrablo grades was generally a little stronger as well ns fnlrlv nrilvn It Is very evident that the country ls niurncunjt us nan tai entile more rapidly than the consuming demand can caro for. What Uie country should do la to hold bark supplies for u few days nnd allow the markets of the country to clean up the surplus product on hand. There Is no uie In shipping by this market to some other point, because all markets are In the same condition, In lnct Chicago Is In the worst shape of all, having had the heaviest receipts. , Later on In the morning when the trade was under full headway all kinds of kill ing cattle, that Is, beef steers, rows and neirers f rmed up and closed generally steady with last week's close. As for some little time back, lambs nnd wm nuule up the big end of the receipts and, yearlings and wethers continue to come. In a vory limited supply. Considering that no western stuff was Included In thn receipts, killers were Ip very fair, supply. Almost as soon as tho moderate supply was yarded, salesmen offered to takn steady prices, which might be taken as an Indication of ft. very weak feeling pre vailing in the trade.
