turned down the scheduled candi
date for preeldent. Bdwnrd T. Swobe,
who wan nominated In open meeting wmc
weeka ago. and elected Robert H. Man
'ey over Swobe by a vote of ftS, to 1.
Swobe's name appeared on the ballot,
and Manley's did not
When the nomination were made romii
works ago the name of ten of the mem
ber were placed In nomination on the
floor for the office of president. Rach
and even one In turn declined to make
the race until It came to Swobe, who ac
cepted the nomination. While members
maintain there was no slating and no
work on the Mdo line, yet the fact re
mains that the name of Ilobort H. Alan
ley was persistently written Into the
blank space left for a possible candidate
on the ballot, and Swobe whoso name was
already there, was rejected with the re
sult that he polUd only eleven votes.

utate. The plan was endorsed by the Ad

along this line to be Introduced In the
legislature this winter.

Kennedy In district court.
Mrs. Page bad filed an answer Charging
Page with extreme cruelty, but she did
not attempt to defeat his plea for a
divorce. The rfttcrco provided that she
shall receive permanent alimony of $1,700,
payable In two installments of 0 and
additional Installments of 130 d month
until the total has been paid.

witnesses for the plaintiff. They testi
fied in support of tho allegations of
