want to offer as a suggestion the name
of Kontanclle. Omaha Is named after
the mot Important of the Nrbrni-ka In
dian tribes. The most Important name,
as to any one connected with that tribe,
or as to a family, and as known to the
whites. Is the Fontanelle family. There
fore It would properly relate, ns a name,
to a hotel, or a park, or anything publlo
in Its nature, conhoctnd with Omaha; and
la also of a dignified and pleasant sound.

Nebraska was born under the squatter
sovereignty Idea of Senator Stephen A.
Douglas. As one of the claim olubi ex

to makb their own laws." This Idea seems
to be growing In favor ngaln In this
progressive" age.
The early beat hotel was the "Douglas
House," at which the writer and tho late

ever, on Harney street, not Douglas.

priate than this title for a hotel located

is in Federal Court
The case of Barbara Zitnik agaiiut the
illilon Pacific Railroad company, wherein
ffio formejr is suing for damages In the
sum of K0.080 for the killing of hor hu.
(land, John Zitnik, has been removed to
the federal court on the grounds of di
verse citizenship. The case came up In.
the district court of Douglas county with
John J. Mullen mentioned as Joint .de
fendant with the Union Pacific
Mullen waa the engineer In charge of
the engtne when it ran down and killed
Zitnik. Recently the attorneys for the
plaintiff, for reasons of their own, with
drew the name of Mullen from the title
if the case and left only the Union Pa
VlUc Jtailroad compapy as defendant. Tho
railroad attorneys at once teolc the op
portunity to take the case into the fed
eral court on the ground of adverse elt
ixetttblp. Mullen being a resident of Ne
braska, adverse dtlzeashlp could not b
claimed in the case as long as he was
made a party to the complaint.
