OMAHA, Nov. 18. Ml!.
Tha leading: Influences surrounding the
wheat market are pronouncedly bearish.
Stocks of this Kruln continue to gron
liberally and they are now becomlne
cumbersome. The stocks nt Buffalo
were Included In the. visible supply today
which caused tho figures of the total to
grow to a much larger proportion. It Is
eald that the total stocks at Huffalo are
anywhere from 4,000,000 to 7,000,000 bushels
and that tho amount of alt kinds of grain,
which Is made, up largely of wheat and
which Is now -on the lakes. Is 22,000,000
bushels. The crop figures as well a the
figures of stocks In various positions are
likely to bo larger than in a great many
years, Foreigners are not bidding for our
wheat save at prices considerably below
tho asking levels, and as long as these
conditions continue tho market will re
main In the hands of bears, and there
will bo heard a general wall because of
lack of demand for cash wheat. Russia
lias raised a spring wheat crop of ISODOO,
000 bushels which compares with the
crop of 320,000,000 busheU last year. Cash
wheat was unchanged to '4c higher.
Argentlno will force Us corn upon the
Importing nations, and a condition of this
kind was notlceablo last week. The corn
crop of the southern hemisphere will soon
come In direct competition with the crop
of the United States. The corn bear has
prospered, while tho bull has lost money,
A crop that wan late and uncertain at
many stages of Its growth has matured
under much better conditions than the
growers dared hope, and a bull market
lins been changed to a bear one. Instead
of a wet and unfavorable fall for matur
ing the corn crop wn have had dry and
cold weather most of the time, and the
corn Is now being harvested and moved
under most favorable conditions. Cash
c-orn lo lower to 1c higher.
Tho efforts to advance prices on part
of Chicago traders proved very effectual
nnd the trend of the market Is reversed.
Cash oats i'&ic higher.
Primary wheat receipts wero 4,334,000
bushels and shipments 617,000 bushels,
ngalnst receipts of 1,218,000 bushels and
(shipments of 358,000 bushels last year.
Primary c6rn receipts were 641,000 bush
els apd shipments 318,000 bushels, against
receipts of 790.000 bushels and shipments
of 315,000 bushels last year.
Pritriary oats receipts were 1,079.000
bushels and shipments 827,000 bushels,
ngalnst receipts of 447,000 bushels and
shipments of 239,000 bushels last year.

CHICAGO GRAIN AA'D PROVISIONS
Features of the. Trndtnir nnd Closing
Price on Hoard of Trnde.
CHICAGO. Nov. 18 Sudden strenrtli
developed In wheat today after the re
ceipt oi news mat uritlsh troops had
mnui'u m uonsiantmopie. Tnero was a
nervous close, !4fft to c abovo Sat
urday night. Latest trading left corn
a shade off to iift'tfc up, oats with a
gain of IJO'Hc to He and provisions
varying from 6c lower to a rise of 25c.
On the upward, rebound In wheat many
traders found themselves trapped, the
market having been heavily oversold.
Most of them tried to Jump simultane
ously to the buying sido when prices at
Liverpool were shown to have made a
steep climb. The result was a flurry that
lasted tho remainder of the day.
Unfavorable weather 111 Argentina un
settled tho confidence of tho wheat
bears early in tho session. Heavy domes
tic receipts, however, and world ship
ments larger than expected formed more
than an. offset. On tho other hand It was
generally thought the vlslblo supply In
crease would reach 8,000.000 bushels by
including the revised Buffalo stocks. In
this thcro was disappointment.
May wheat fluctuated between S5Hc
and 8614c with last sales H&4c net
higher' at S6Hc
Shorts who wero frightened at the ac
tion of wheat rallied tho corn market
which had been on a decline duo to
fine weather. The bulls were helped by
statements from a crop expert that tho
yield this season had been put too high.
May swung from 47c to 47Hc, closing
steady at 47ic, a shade up, compared
with Saturday night. Cash grades were
slow. No. 2 yellow was quoted at 67
6714c
Oats displayed Independent strength
owing to the cereal having failed to un
dergo any substantial decline in the face
of tho big crop and tho long-continued
weakness of other grain. May, which
sold from 31T4o to 32Hc, with the closo
at 3214c, made a net aln of 140Hc
In provisions offerings wero limited
nnd the market responded to fair buy
ing, of which considerable was for in
vestment. January pork took the lead,
with an advance of 25c.

CATThIC Receipts of cattlo wero the
largest that they huvo boen for a Monday
slnoe thrao weeks ago. Tho arrivals con
sisted of a very liberal showing of range
cattle with nuRo a sprinkling of cornfeds.
Receipts at other selling points wero also
large and reports generally Indicated a
slump In values all along the line. As a
result of tho general lower tendency of
tho market prices here also suffered moro
or Ivan weakness and trade aa a whole
was slower than It haa been for a num
ber of weeks back.
Beef steors while In fair demand wore
by no means active sellers. Buyers wore
very bearish In their vlows nnd wero
very much disposed to tiiko their tlmo In
filling orders. Good range, beef steers
wero sought after and In some cases they
did not look very much lower. On thu
other hand cornfeds, especially th
warmed-up kinds, felt tho full force of
the general weakness, mnklng the mnrket
as u whole anywhere from barely steady
to 10q lower.
Cows ond heifers wore wenk to 10c
lower than last week, even tho good kinds.
There was considerable Inijtilry for do
slrablo reeding cattlo and strictly good
kinds did nut show much clmnge as com
pared with last week. On tho other hand
the mn.dlum kinds were very much loss
active and wero unywhero from weak to
10o lower.
