M'GEE REAL ESTATE CO., 106 Pearl St., Council Bluffs. OMAHA, October 22, 1812. it looks very much as if wheat, after being lilted out of the rut by the Balkan war scare, will drop back in again before the end of the week. The trade now gives more attention to domestic conditions and less to foreign politics. There is a feeling of assurance that the Dardanelles will not be closed even if the present war goes on. Conditions are very tine for the new Argentine crop. Cash wheat premiums were reduced in the northwest late last week. Some sav Canada and Russia are sure to undersell Europe. Hut rosaraiesa oi au mis sort of news, wneat is wen supported, on the theory that the stocks have not accumulated as was expected In Chlcaa-o or the northwest. Short sell ing is not ' aggressive because of doubt about the foreign news. It still continues to be a good fighting market. Cash wheat was utichanged to c lower. The price for December and May corn kept within a narrow range most of the time last week. The trade is giving more attention to the weather than to anything else. A few cars of new corn arrived in Chicago and sold in the sample market for from 48 to 51 cents. Most of the re ports agree that the country offerings of the new crop are limited. Shippers are getting as much old corn into the mar ket as possible. The enormous crop of the year is the chief bear argument of many traders. This is coupled with the REAL ESTATE FARM RAN CH LANDS FOR SALE Iowa. 34 Acre Farm At a sacrifice, 3 miles of city limits of Council Bluffs, -inile from railroad sta tion. At the same time there is a feeling of caution on the selling side of lecember corn contract as bud weather or light marketing might ptove a help to buyers. It seems reason ably safe to take the selling side of May corn on the swells. Cash corn un changed. Heavy arrivals of wheat at primary terminals cruaneu an advance todav due to growing fears of the serious nature of the struggle with. Turkev. The result was a steady close. with prices the same aa Saturday night to Vc up. For a., while wheat traders 1 here paid chief attention to signs that European markets were becoming more agitated as the consequence of the Balkan war. Higher insurance rates were being quoted at London and there were assertions tkat the topmost prices In fitty-five years had been exacted for vessel room from the Black sea to western Europe, bucn in fluences, however, gradually gave way In considerations nearer at hanu. Hears In wheat received their principal comfort through the fact that primary re ceipts were double those of a year ago. The United States visible supply total also i showed a material increase. Oct. 31. -The feature of today's stock market waa the heavy sell ing of the last hour, which caused rapid diminishing of quoted values, net losses in representative Issues ranging from 2 to 4 points. No news accompanied the decline, which was doubtless aided by the operations of the short Interest. The setback waa again due In part to foreign Influences. .ondon's market was weak, a natural oondltlon In view of the liberal selling there for Berlin and Paris. French rentes suffered another severe de cline and private advices received by in ternational bankers Indicated extreme un easiness at Paris, arising from develop ments In the Balkans. The local market Improved, with some moderate losses, these being partially re gained In the early afternoon, when It be came known that the United States su preme court would not hand down an Im mediate decision In the so-called anthra cite cases. The professional element then undertook to advance several sjmv cialtles. and, this movement proving more or less futile, the list was left to Its own devices. Traders were not slow to real ise Its tnchnlnal weakness. After the close It developed that Paris and other Ruropean exchanges were still at work clearing up hut week's wreck age. Bonds were materially affected by the decline In stocks. Total sales, par value, $1,650,000. United States bonds were un changed on call.
