As far as the speculative end of it Is
concerned, there is nothing better in the

GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET
Wheat Karket Remain About Same,
bat Has Bearish Aspect.
C0BN BELT WEATHER IS GREAT
Surprising- Feat a re la Oats Trade la
the Stnbboraneaa la Prices for
All the Months Deaplte
the Breaks.
OMAHA, Sept. 13. 1911
.There is still a good slsed element in
the trade which believes In the merit of
wheat at the present level. There was a
certain amount of accumulation by the
wire houses on the breaks. The market
had spasmodic rallies like those of yes
terday morning, only to get the buyers on
the swell In trouble, then it dropped
easily and quickly. The dullness In trad
ing is the result ot the bearish news
from the northwest on both sides of the
line, where wheat Is sure to move heavily
and keep on moving until it tires the
trade out The southwest markets had
heavy shipments yesterday. The decline
of the last few days brought fairly good
export business, but that is not sufficient
to start aggressive bull operations. It
looks like a market in which those who
have patienoe to wait for the swells and
sell conservatively will be on the right
side. Cash wheat unchanged.
So long as the present very fine
weather continues all over the corn belt
there will be a bearish feeling In the
trade and on the part of the public be
cause of the big prospective yield with
lighter feeding operations certain for the
year. The feature In corn yesterday was
the sharp drop of several cents In cash
prices, which helped to demoralise the
futures. The break has been sufficient
to justify caution on the selling side
of December corn at the discount under
September. While the general feeling In
bearish there are many who believe it is
not wise to sell corn low down In the
fifties which may later in the year be
converted into high priced meats and
lard. Cash corn He lower to lc higher.
The surprising feature in the oats trade
Is the stubbornness in prices for all
months in face of the 'break In other
markets. It makes it look as If the trade
in the country regarded prices on a safe
level. Cash oats was unchanged.
Primary wheat receipts were 1,976.000
bushels and shipments were 1,009,000 buBh

Primary oats receipts were L 020,000
bushels and shipments were 602,000 bush

CHICAGO, Sept. 13. Revival of export
demand helned tnrfnv tfl KpinsT O h stilt- n
lively advance in wheat. Prices were
mgner irom tne start. Bullish cables
furnished the cue to traders and nullified
fears of heavy world shipments.
Much of the business- consisted of buy

fluctuated between 90Hc and 91tyc, with
lust sales 914c, an advance of c com

CATTLE Receipts of cattle were very
lights, as Is the case on most Fridays,
In fact there were really not enough to
excite very much Interest among buyers
and the trade was without new or In
teresting features, It buing a typical Fri
day's market.
There were no fat cattle of any con
sequence to make a test of values, so
that prices remained nominally un
changed. For the week the best grades
of beef are possibly a little stronger,
while the less desirable kinds are a little
easier. The market as a whole has not
shown much change.
Cows and helfors were slow and dull
today and they have been rather uneven
all the week. It has been a good deal of
a catch-aa-catch-can market, and no two
sellers have had exactly the -same ex
perience, in the end It would appear
that the market Is not very much dif
ferent from what It waa a week ago.
tlood feeders, having quality aa well as
some flesh, have been strong all the
week and are a little higher than one
week ago. On the other hand, there
have been a rood many light stock cattle
on the common to medium order, many
of them being reshlpped to this market
Horn other markets. The result of the
large receipts has teen to break this mar
ket on that Kind, price being now fully
25c lower than a week ago.

HOGS A moderate supply of hogs ar
rived for a Friday. The market opened
In fair sen son with shippers and specula
tort buying about their usual proportion
of the receipts at prices mostly strady
to strong for anything that Just suited
them. Packers were small buyers early
In the morning, but later on bought a
good share of tha ' receipts at figure
generally strong to a nickel higher than
yesterday. Aa very few If any . choice
hogs were on the market, the ordinary
run of mixed and packing grades showed
the most Irnprovemont. Trade was fairly
lively throughou and a clearance of the
offerings was made In very good season.
The top price, $8.50, was paid several
times, and is all of 20c lower than the
high mark reached yesterday. Receipts
footed up, according to first estimates,
about eighty-one loads, or 6,569 head, aa
compared with 4,903 last Friday, 6,174 two
weeks ago and 4,803 head on the corre
sponding day last year. On the whole
quality was not quite up to the standard
of yesterday, there being practically no
really choice hogs on Bale.
There was no nqtlceable Increase In the
number of pigs, thera being In the neigh
borhood of 600 head on sals. For some
little time back a small number of pigs
have been arriving at the yards, but of
late their number is apparently increas
ing. Bulk of them sold anywhere from
$5.00 to $585 and weighed from 60 to 100
pounds.
SHEEP The arrivals of sheep and
lambs this morning amounted to about
ten loads three of which were ahlpped
direct to a packer, leaving only seven
cars actually on sale. What stock was
here brought prices fully steady with,
yesterday. The supply was really not
enough to properly test values.
Trade in fat lambs has been In very
satisfactory shape all week and the
trend of values has been upward. Al
though receipts were fairly liberal pack
ers seemed to be In need of almost
everything in the killing line. A good
clearance of that sort of atuff Is being
made dally. There was a strong tone
to the trade throughout and business on
most days displayed considerable activ
ity, especially on prims killers. Buyers
In a measure were Induced to pay higher
price on account of the very favorable
conditions surrounding the eastern mut
ton trade. The close of the week shows
a substantial advance of 2W0c on lambs
over prices prevailing at the end of last
week.
A comparatively small ' supply of fat
sheep was met with a broad and active
demand and prices generally are quotably
a quarter better than a week ago. Fat
ewes made up the bulk of the offerings,
and yearlings being rather scarce. Choice
handywelght yearlings showed the most
Improvement In prices, Heavy Montana
wetheis are very little If any different
from the close of last week.
Trade In the feeder division was mora
active than at any other time since the
opening of the season. There was a
good strong demand and numerous buy
ers were here looking for desirable feed
ers. The supply was fairly large, but
not ample enough to meat the apparent
growing demand. At the end of the
week both feeding sheep and lambs are
selling fully 1015c above last week's
clnsa. i
