etc., and claim to be adepts in pleasing
their patrons.
The present generation will not soon
forget the thrill caused by the "C. Q.
D." of "Jack" Binns, hero of the Ul
fated ocean liner Republic. This was
the first great demonstration of the use
fulness of wireless at sea when disaster
threatened hundreds of the ship's com
pany. The more recent catastrophe of
the Titanic again brought this fact Into
prominence(. The Carpathla would never
have readied the scene In time to rescue
the pitifully small number of those who
had sailed on the largest and most won
derful steamship then In existence. The
opportunity to view the workings of this
system has been largely limited to those
who have traveled on the ocean steam
ships or on those of the Great Lakes.
Through the enterprise, however, of two
young men who are experts in this sub
ject, an exhibition of the wireless tele
graph in actual operation will be given
at the state fair. So complete will be
this demonstration that it will be il
luminating ' even to thoso who have ob
served In slight degree the activities of
the wireless room aboard ship. There
the operator is engrossed with serious
business and even with the unfailing
courtesy of the members of the craft he
will not be able to enter Into a detailed
explanation and demonstration of tils
apparatus. The two young men who
will exhibit the wireless telegraph at the
state fair in this city, on the contrary,
will make it their pleasant task to go
Into the subject fully, and will explain
the many and interesting features of this
wonderful invention.
Upon the fair grounds will be located
both a sending and a receiving station.
At, the first Btation will be shown the

Instruments by which the messages are
transmitted and the principles governing
their construction and operation will be
explained. Messages will be. sent to the
operator at the receiving station, and
visitors should they so desire, may dictate
brief communication for transmission,
copies of which will be presented ,to them
at station No. 2. There the receiving
apparatus will be shown and explained
and all will be given an opportunity to
listen to the wireless waves by means of
Individual head receivers.
The naval exhibit is always entertain
ing. The models of batteleshlps and
naval supplies are productive of keen In
tereet to a people so far removed from
the sea ooast
The fair will be all ready with every
exhibit In place by 8 o'clock Monday
morning, September t and people who
want to see the fair In all its freshness,
with the best chance for successful
aeroplane flights and a program the best
of any day for the entire week, will miss
It if they do not attend Monday. The
crowd of Monday last year Numbered
21,000. Can't we double it this year?
