tutt against the Northwestern Lumber
men's association was begun her today.
J. H. Hewitt, who organised in 1908 the
Tyree Lumber company, a selling agency,
said lie was deterred from doing bustnei
with mall order concern' because he did
not wish to lose trade with retail yards
and because he did not want the retailer
to learn through the lumbermen' asso
ciation that he had sold lumber to "non
etnloal" mall order concern.
In this connection a letter dated March
7, 1909, from Frank Anson, a lumberman
from Muscatine, la., to D. H. Cale, sec
retary of the Tyee Lumber company, was
produced, In which Anson' raid:
"I see you are blacklisted for selling
the Gordon-Vantlne company of Daven
port." , )
In reply Mr. Cale wrote: "It 1 not
our intention to sell any. such people as
the Gordon-Vantlne company. We regret
we have been blacklisted : and ' do not
think it fair, Inasmuch as It 1 not our
disposition to do any Injustice to the re
tailers. We have explainer our position
fully and expect to be taken oft the
blacklist, if the association U at all In

ened their stride pennantward today by
winning two games from Chicago, while
its two rivals, Washington and Philadel
phia, lost Wood in the second won his
fourteenth straight game, . making his
record twenty-nine victories for the sea
son. He shut out his opponent 3 to 0.

Now that Cliff Healy has been sold it
is a good time to tell the fans what a
wonderful swatter the Grizzly hurler is
at the bat .He has been-to. bat sixty
five times to date and in that number
number of times he ha faced the op
posing twier he has made not a single
hit and only one run. He will . be a
peer of strength for Hughle Jennlng's
tribe.
As baa been said before Denver will
not find the pickings at Topeka quite so
