The feeling In the wheat trade yester day which permitted a fair recovery tn prices after an early dip seemed to be that hardly any progress is being made in forcing the market nearer the 90-cent level, and that with the futures ruling considerably under the cash wheat and no chance for accumulation ot grain in public elevators here the conditions easily favor buyers when the track can find an oversold spot In the Chicago market. The northwest conditions are mixed, with much damp stained grain coming forward as a result of the recent excessive rains and millers are discriminating to an ex tent that caused a show of weakness in the cash market. Cash prices were easier In the southwest yesterday and this was offset by the liberal shipping and export sales. Traders say It Is best to limit the selling orders to the strong swells. Cash wneat 2c lower. It has been known for some time that practically all selling of December and May corn was In the shape of short lines. It was a reduction of this short interest yesterday which gave the fair recovery in prices. Traders thliiK iv wise to keep away from the selling side of September with the cash corn up around SOc If the weather conditions hold favorable It may doto pick the hard spots for sales In later months. The cnunfrv ntfArvA riii. I cago houses 223,000 bushels of corn jester. nay ana trie sales for shipments at the same time were nearly 300,000 bushels. It Is a weather market for December and May. Cash corn was unchanged. Specialists In the oats trade look for the heavy shipping and export sales to do little more than give steadiness to the market. Reports of considerable damage to oats in shocks are helping buyers at the present time. Cash oats were un changed to 4c lower. Feeder buyers were very much In evi dence this morning and they were out in the yards early in the morning picking up everything that would do for their purpose. The prices paid were strong and the trade active. Feeder buyers in fact picked up a good many catte that under other clraumstances might have gone for killers. The supply of beef steers was small, especially so after feeder buyers had picked up many of the more fleshy grades that packers might otherwise have bid on. The trade on killers was not particularly active, but still prices wets generally steady with yesterday. There was considerably mors snap and life to the cow and heifer market than yesterday, and prices were generally a little stronger. The olferlngs for the most part cnanged hands In good season in the morning. Although trade was very quiet In the lat sheep division early, considerable busliiets waj transacted in the feeder end of the Hade. There was a good active demand for feeding stock, as numerous outside buyers were on the market. While the receipts have been large so far this week, there has been soareely enough stuff suitable for feed lug purpose to satisfy that branch of the trade. Feeding ewes, wethers and yearlings have been very scarce. Eleven cars of feeding lambs sold early this morning at $6.35. and a four-car string brought KSO. prices being steady with yesterday. Later in the morning, when the supply was mostly all in buyers and sellers were not long In getting down to business, the big bulk of the offerings changing hands before midday. Trade was lively light from the opening, with lambs selling mostlv steady to 10c higher and fat sheep steady to dtrong when compared with yesterday's market.
