inning. Justice drew a pass and went to

on came next and sent an easy one to
McDonald, who made a perfect atop, but
a poor throw to Billlnga at first The
paJl went into the bleachers and Justice
galloped home with the winning run.
Both games were highly Interesting, es
peclally the second. Hall had , little
DUDie who tne Haws in the first, re
gardlesa of the fact that five errors were
Piled up behind him. However, he was
tmyer In danger and pitched a great
game. The Rourkes took the lead In the
first inning on a single, a sacrifice and
a wild pitch. In the second a walk and
two hits brought in another. Topeka got
one In the sixth on two hits and two
errors. Tile Rurkea, however, got an
other in the sixth, and put the game on
ice in the seventh with two runs.

Cockreham was sent in by Del Gear.
Fugate pitched a great game and should
have won hands down, but two hits and
two errors in the third gave the Kaws
three runs. The Omaha boys came back
strong and piled up four in their half
of the inning.
Before and after the third Fugate was
Invincible. He had the boys from Kansas
breaking their backs reaching for Ma
mysterious benders and before the end
Of the game had sent thirteen of his
former teammates to the bench over the
strikeout route. He gave but seven hits
and kept these well scattered.

Thomas Gets Decision

Thomas, the'Engllsh featherweight was
given the decision over Frankie Conly
of Kenosha at the end of their twenty-
round bout at vernon today. It was a
fierce, bloody fight throughout
Thomas forfeited his weight money by
refusing to weigh In. In the ring he ap
peared to be close to the lightweight
limit' while Conley said he weighed L9
pounds. Before the fight Referee Eaton
announced all bets off because Thomas
was overweight
Thomas far surpassed Conley In boxing
skill and soon bad the Kenosha lad's
face bleeding. Conley seemed to pay no
attention to the blows and bored in con
tinually. Round after round he rushed
the Englishman around the ring, taking
tour or five blows for the privilege of
getting In close.
At In-flghtlng Conley had ..the better
of Thomos and twice the Englishman
appeared groggy.' In the seventh Conley
knocked out one of Thomas' front teoth
with a left: . A gash, was opened over
Con)y's right eye and he bled profusely.
Of the twenty rounds Thomas had the
better of ten, Conley eight 11ml two were

State Fair Saces
'Have Many Entries
Patrons of the Nebraska State fair this
year will see some of the classiest race
horses In this section of the country.
The official list of entries and the sched
ule was made-public last night.
On Monday; September 2, the first race
will be pulled off. It will be a 2:20 trot
known as the ' "Industrial Purse." and
a $1,000 purse has been hung up. Twenty
five horses are entered for this event A
purse of 8500 has been 'offered for the
second race, a 2:30 pace. Nine side
wheelers will compete. The third race
of the afternoon will be' a 2:17 pace for
tO with ten entries. A five-eighths-mile
dash for $100, a seveh-e!?hths-m!!e
dash for a purse of 8150 and a ten-mile
relay race forv ,250. will complete the
program. , ,
On Tuesday, September 3, six races
Will be pulled off. The first for 3-ver.
olds, with fifteen entries for a J500 purse;
the second, ; a 2:30 trot, for ll.OOrt with
twenty-Vvo entries; the third, a free-for-all
pace, with seven entries for $500; the
fourth, the "Nebraska Derby." for $M0;
a one-half-milo repeat race for $100, and
a ten-mile relay for $1,250.
On Wednesday eight races will be run
In all $4,050 will be hung up and over
fifty horses will run. Thursday, forty
two horses will compete in seven races
for a total purse of 84.050. Friday will
wvoo me races wun a puree of $3,600,
which will be divided among the winners
of six races. ,
