The movement of the new SDrlna wheat in the northwest is not up to expectations m the bears here, who were expecting Kreat help from the break in northwest markets and hedging sales against heavy runs. With a good cash and export busi ness day after day and no accumulation Of grain In public elevators such as usu ally occurs at this season the trade runs Into an oversold condition quickly. This was chiefly the cause of the recovery In prices yesterdav. Earlv messarea do not indicate any rains In the northwest to seriously interfere with the harvest. The trade Is not inclined to borrow trouble over irost predictions in the Canadian northwest. Brokers believe the market is in a position where areneral itellinir will be felt on any good swell and they think mis a good lead to follow, cash wtieat 0 lower. Having passed the middle of August with very little hot forcing weather for the big corn states, there is considerable grumbling on the part of corn raisers ana uneasiness among practical corn men in the trade over the danger of a late finish for the crop and naturally some danger of an early frost scare. The feeling Is modifying the temper of the trade in the new crop months. Bear leaders argue that Chicago should have a 60c corn level for the December and May options if the country Is to raise 1,800,000,000 bushels or more. The feeling mostly favors the selling side of the late months on hard spots. In the theory that tne crop will reach maturity without ac cldent.. Cash corn was Ho lower. The weather recently has been very wet in the oats district, with an enormous cash demand and fair export sales. All these conditions helped to modify the bearishness noted In oats recently. . It is a good, trading market and likely to be influenced by the action of corn. Cash oats was unchanged. With tne exception ot a load of native lambs' the supply was composed entirely' of heavy Montana wethers. The lambs were little If any better tnan medium quality I and were dlspo ed of early at $.25, being i about steady with, yesterday's market. ' As packers pref -r cnoice handy weight wethers to tne heavy kind the Montana ttock was romewnat slow to sell. ; In this week's lamb trade there .was a (airly liberal supply ot fair to good fat lambs, while prime killers And tne com mon to medium tnaues that would serve as fredlng stock were' scarce when com pared with this time last year. Owing to somewhat similar conditions at other markets the local trade is 607oc lower than the cmse of last week. Another featuie of tl:e nufrket was the comparative scarcity of fat sneep, as al most on every day they formed trie small ttiirt af tint rapelnti. Nor msnv reAllv icnolce tvetiier.i, ewe or yearlings were among the olferlnjts, and on tnat account p. ices have shown less decline tnan on lambs. The close of the week Indicates a decline of about lMi luc as compared with a wpok nffn. Vpflrlinars. however. have shown some improvement and may be regarded as fully steady to strong. Owing laigeiy to a dullness and a lower tendency In fat lambs th teedlng end of the trade Is about steady with the end of last week. Feeders were a little higher the lore part or the week, but all tho advance was lost at tne week end. Tho same thing was true ot teedlng wethers and ewes, but not much of tnat kind has spptared aiming the receipts.
