Cah wheat unthang'-d. . .Certain Ifuoirs la the corn trade arc arguing on tne bull side of the' late corn 'ir.onths bceauc of 'he great discount of September under cash corn. The market ? presents two distinct propositions, - the cash and September based on small sup ; plies of old corn, with more or lest tf congestion In the market for the early j t months ever since last May. The new cash prices must be based on the promise of the growing crop which Is certainly ; flattering at this time. Aug. 14.-Taklng today's highest quotations as a basis, the general average of prices In the stock market was the highest of the year. This was mainly due to the strength of a number of specialties of the semi-active c.ass, whose recent advances have been pto portlonately ggreater than those recorded by the speculative favorites. . As a matter of fact, however, many of the better known specialties, Includ ing Steel, made their best prices of the year today, while Union Pacific, Amal gamated Copper, smelting and other ac tive Issues were higher than at any period In several months.
