GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET Liverpool Does Not Make Much Re sponse to Break in Wheat FARMERS ARE TOO BUSY TO SELL rndertone in (he Cora Market Can not Be Called Weak, but the Short Are the Beat Bayer. OMAHA. Julv 1 1912 Liverpool aid not make much response lu ine mg oreaK nere, coming id to d Oil. Posalbllltv of errvirt huilnsn ha. been enhanced recently by relative firm ness of foreign markets. Our prices have iiiwu wvxo man inuae 01 jturope. At present we are close to a working basis on hard winter wheat for the first time In months. The reoeiots are In creasing, a is to be expected. The weather Is favorable as a rule and re ports are moat encouraging. The selling il use run us course, ana at the cresent few appear to want to own aiy wheat, but it Is believed that prices are now at a level that discounts much of the crop promise and that short selling Is be coming too popular. Cash wheat 8c to 4c lower. Cables were d lower on corn with the foreign market relatively firm. Cash demand was fair yesterday and there is no great selling pressure from the coun try. The country continues to sell very little corn, which is natural owing to ine pressure or rarm work. The under tone to the market cannot be called weak, but shorts are the best buyers, new out , side buying being lacking. Corn was l2c lower. - Chief oats feature is fine crop promise, but it is a question If this has not been well discounted. Prices are now about half those prevailing for com. Harvest ing operations are progressing favorably and it Is expected to see some consider able hedging pressure put upon the de ferred futures. Cash oats are unchanged. CHICAGO, July 18. -Likelihood of all records being broken this season for yields per acre throughout the north west made an unmistakably heavy mar ket today for wheat. The finish was at a loss of He to c net Corn showed a break of Vtflc to 12c from last night; oats were unchanged to c off. Experts in Minnesota and the Dakota reported perfect field weather just at the right . time to help bring about a crop of unprecedented site, possibly as much as 275.000,000 bushels for the three states named. Bearish sentiment was neutralised at intervals, however, by advice from the Canadian northwest that some damage had been done by recent frosts. - Invariably though the market headed downward again, selling pressure being so constant as to suggest liquidation on a large scale, wholly aside from the hedging of new wheat from the southwest: . According to one authority, best ex port bids were 3c to 6c out of line for winter wheat and 8c to 10c for spring. September ranged from 93H944c and in the end was weak at 03V a decline of 4ftc compared with yesterday. Corn prices were undermined by the plentiful supply of new oats being of fered freely at low figures as a feeding substitute for corn. Fine showers in sections where heat recently has been intense tended also to weaken the mar ket. September ranged from Hc to 66SCc, closing heavy at l2o down at Mic. tasn grades, dull; No. 2 yellow 7172c. . Despite the fact that cats finished at the lowest level reached this season. prices did not cover so wide a range as usual. September closed at 33c, just Mffiflio below last night Demoralisa tion ruled the pork market for a short time until packers came to the rescue. Stop loss selling, the result of weakness in grain, was the chief reason for the break, which amounted to 60 cents from the top. Pork closed off S5c to 374c; lard. 24124c, and ribs a shade to 5c lower. Closing quotations on futures were: . Article! Open. High.l Low. Close.l Ye'y. STEEL PRODUCTS IN DEMAND Amalgamated Copper Another Strong Featare Derivisg Much Sup port from Better Inquiry for Metal. NEW YORK. July 18.-Stocks mani fested Increasing firmness today after an early period of uncertainty. Trading, however, stil was dull and perfunctory. Favorable crop news, undoubted improve ment In the steel Industry and Increasing ease in the domestic monetary situation all combined to create an' atmosphere of mild optimism. Of the, several factors named, the In creasing demand for the output of the steel mills at higher prices was perhaps the most potent today. Equipment or ders are coming along steadily and this fact la beginning to find reflections in the stocks of the companies benefitted. Amalgamated Copper was another strong feature, deriving much of its up port from a better Inquiry for the metal at prices approaching recent high quota tions. The tone of the foreign exchanges offered scant comfort to the constructive side of the account. London turned weak aCter ,a cheerful opening, with the now familiar tale of another drop In consols. This manes tne total for the four day thl week over 11,000 head, being the largest since three week ago and only slightly smaller than a year ago. Beef steer were in very small supply thl morning there being only a few load on sale. At th same time there waa a reasonable good demand and th market waa generally steady with yes terday, there being llttl ohang in either direction. Cows and heifers were in large supply a considerable proportion of the total re ceipts being made up ot mat Kina oi cattle. While the demand waa good there waa naturally a disposition on the Dart of buvers t take advantage of the liberal receipts and wherever they could they bore down on the price. While th better grade were probably steady th tendency on the medium kinds wa downward. ' There were only a few toctc oatti and feeders in the yard this morning and on account of the light run, prio howed little or no change a compared with yesterday. - - yuotaiions on cattie: uooa to cnuico beet steer, $&.60gt.60; fair to good beef steers, as.uuo.ou; common to imr ami steers, $5,003)8.00; good to cholo heifers, $6,266)7.60; good to cholc cow. $5.o03)6.23; fair to good cows, $4.6005.60; common to fair cow, $2.60(34.60; good to oltcio tock ra and feeder. $6.(M6.50; fair to good tocker and feeder. $4.&Ofi. 00; common to fair tookr ana letxier, n.oug.io stock cow and belters. $3.2a4J4.76; va) calve. $4.60ffl8.W; bull, stags, etc., $3.7$ 6.08. itepreientauv saies: BEEF STEERS.
