"There save been sales and sales in Omaba during the past and ther have been crowds at the sales, but there has new been such a sale as was started this 'morning when the Orkln Bros.' company .opened the doors ot the. Bennett company, store; and of fered every article in the Immense stock at reduced prices. Then, too, there have never been such crowds at a sale in Omaha as at tended this one. During the day the fpur' lower floors of the build ing became so crowded tnat it was necessary to lock all of the out side doors for brief periods until a portion of those Inside could fin ish their buying and get out. And the - people who came were not curiosity seekers, but, instead, were liberal purchasers in every department" Etc., Etc. ; f FROM THE NEWS ... . "As early as 7 o'clock the shop pers began to gather and by the time the doors opened at 8 o'clock, the crowd filled the sidewalks and streets out to the car tracks. "The store was jammed all day, the occasion being the clearing sale following Orkln Bros.' pur chase of the store. It was a typi cal bargain bunting crowd except that the buyers besieged every de partment in the store. "Despite the preparations made, the volume of business la far ex ceeding anticipations," etc.. etc. -FROM THE WORLD-HERALD "We employed 600 extra peo ple to sell goods, but U we had an ticipated so big a crowd ot buyers we would have made It 1,000," says M. E. Orkln of Orkln Bros., company, buyers of the Bennett stock and leessea of the Bennett store, yesterday. : The annoancetneat . by .Qrkin Bros, company that they would close- oot the-. Bennett stock to make place' for a new stock of their own brought throngs of buy ers.,, Some keen for bargains were there long before the doors opened at a 'o'clock. The crowd was so great that at 8:20 the doors had' to be closed so they could pick out their goods and be waited upon; The doors were closed again at 9:20 and again about an hour latere t,t -: .. After that there was steady buy ing all day long. ( t was a well behaved crowd, nobody pushing or jostling or los ing temper, and' so it got what it wanted. ' v - ' 1 ! . M. E. Orkln said. that at 10 o'clock tbe sates for the two hours were already in some departments more than the stle for any prev lous whole day in the biggest sales of the Bennett store. The sale opened with record-breaking crowds and record-breaking bar-gains-and that isn't all of the records we intend to break when ; the moving of the vast Half-Million Stock of the old Bennett Company Is over.
