, TOPEKA, Kan.; June I.-(Speelal Tele
gram.) Omaha made It three out of four
In the terlei by taking both end of to
. day'a double-header, Thursday' post
ported game being played off today. In
the aecond game Robinson held the locals
to one hit, a single by Brandom that
scored a runner In the eighth Inning, and
Ihe locals never had a chance. The final
core was 5 to 1. ,The result of the first
same was 3 to 1.,
The Initial contest was a peach. Toung
and Hall engaged In a pretty pitching
duel. The visiting hufler was tha more
effective In the pinches, which explains
the result. At that the result might have
been different but for some bonehead
bate running by the locals. Both pitch
era had fast and errorless support. Rlck
ert and Davidson contributed sensational'
one-banded catches In left field.
"After Justice singled and Coyle was
hit In the ribs, Thomason drove ths ball
over Lee's head and both scored.
Omaha .got another In the seventh.
Cear Nelhoff led off with a single, stole
second and went to third on an Infield
out. With two out and Hall . at bat
Toung was guilty of, balk and "Umps
Johnson waved Nelhoff home. There was
much oratory by the Kaws, but tha umpa
was firm and Manager Gear filed a pro
test. The locals got the only run in the
ninth, although they started three other
Innings with safe hits. Gardner opened
the ninth with a single and was held at
aecond on Lea's short single. Emery
drove a double to right. Gardner scor
ing. With only one gone, Lee tried to
teal home and was out, quenching the
tally.
There was little to the second game, ex
cept Pitcher Robinson. The locals were
hitting the ball In the air or rolling
dinky grounders to the outfield most of
the. time. Up to the eighth only two
Kaws saw' first base, both walking, but
getting no further.
Nelhoff was too, eager and kicked two
In' the eighth, jutting two runners on.
With two out and Brandom, a weak
batter, up it looked Ilk a no hit game.
Iut Brandom poked a grounder, be
tween Scanlon and Arbogast and Emery
cored. ' ..
' Omaha started the scoring In the sec
ond, Nelhoff opening with a double and
scoring on two sacrifices.
Justices single,' a walk to Thomason.
Scanlon' triple and Walsh's error added
three more In the third. Nelhoff score
again In the ninth on a single, a sacri
fice and wild pitch. Only two hits
were made off Brandom after the third.

will be pulled off with Sioux City. This
will even up for the game which was
called off the second day of the season,
owing to" rain. Following Sioux City,
the St. Joseph team will come for four
games, after which the Rourkes again
will take to the road for a trip of eight
games and then come back for sixteen
more. . - '
Still In Second Place.
Omaha - went -away In - second place
and in all probability will come back tn
the same' place. The fans are greatly
pleased with the showing they have made
and are ready to back them for all they
are worth. There is no doubt that the
attendance, during the coming ..stay at
home will be far Superior to the attend
ance before ' the Rourkes went away.
lTie tans have come to realise that.
Omahajia some team and the men are
deserving of all the backing they can get.
Strong; Despite Misfortune.
. All kinds of misfortune has traveled
wifh the Rourkes on the present trip.
Davidson has been suffering from a Sev
ere cold all the while he has been on the
trip. Jlmmle Kane, Omaha's 'fast first
sacker, has contracted a Charley- horse
and Arbogast and Gonding have had to
fill his place at first. " Mark Hall was
knocked unconscious at Denver when he
collided with Beall and was sent home
tor a few days to recuperate. Wanner
has been sold and BUI Schipke has
joined the .team. When the trip Is over
the boys will return home in a most per
fect condition, prepared to .fight to the
end for the coveted rag.
. Pitchers Do Well.
Pa's pitchers have been doing good
work on the trip with the exception of
a couple, and the Omaha magnate is said
to be looking for a nevjpltcher br two
on which hecan depend to win a good
Share ot his games. Hall, Ryan, Hfcka
and Robinson have done the bulk of the
work on the road, while Fentress . has
been started in several games only to be
jerked after . one or two Innings. . Dusty
Rhodes has just started and from now
on will be 'counted on to take his regular

Topeka Seeks Place
to Sell Franchise?
PUEBLO, Colo., June 16.-(SpeciaI Tel
egram.) Pueblo was given another
chance to enter the Western league today
when C. J. Bear of Topeka wired to
Colonel C. B. Carlisle asking if any one
in Pueblo would consider purchasing a
Western league franchise, which is taken
to mean Topeka.
Colonel Carlisle wired back he did not
think any one here would care to Invest
after the experience with Isbell last
season. , - He said, however, that If the
owners of the franchise' wished to trans
fer It to this city they would be made
a present Of a base ball plant valued at
$7,000. A fund has been raised here to
prosecute Isbell and the case against
him will not be dropped whether or not
Pueblo again enters the Western league.
