Thursday afternoon, when they will
gather at Lake Manawa to hold competi
tion in swimming and boating' events.
The swimming events will be twenty

tances of 100 and 200 yards, both single
and double-oared boats. The big race

honors went to the University of Cali
fornia In the splendid meet at Lafayette,
Ind., yesterday afternoon,, where more
than 140 athletes from twenty-three
schools were In competition. The athletes
from the University of Missouri, the men
who won the Missouri Valley conference
contests the Saturday before, were able
to win second honors. California had 414
points and Missouri had 29V. Illinois
came third with 2b' points; Chicago fourth
with 15 points, and Wisconsin fifth with
124 points.
Three conference records were broken,

shattered by men from Missouri valley'
conference schools and the other was
broken by an Obcrli athlete, so that none'
of the new records were established by
the athletes composing the "Big Eight,"

Nicholson, the Missouri athlete, who
last Saturday ran the high hurdles lr
