CHICAGO. Mar 11. Wheat micea made
qukk rally today on account of cash
sales, which raised the total her for
th week to nearlv 2,009.001 bushel The
market closed ateady at c lower to V
advance aa compared with last night. In
corn the outcome waa unchanged to &
a down and for oats from Vo decline
to the same aa twenty-four hour before.
Provision at th end of trading ranged
from yesterday final level to lsc lower.
Although wheat wound up at th high
est point of the session, sentiment on the
whole appeared tar from being so bullish
aa on th preoedtpg day. Murk unload
ing waa done by holders and there waa
considerable short selling in addition.
Values moat of the time averaged well
below last night figure. Seasonable
weather and plenty of molature through
out the entire winter crop belt waa be
lieved to have improved the outlook.
Northwestern reports on seeding Indicated
also that th acreage might not be seri
ously diminished.
Aside from the effect of th big cash
sale a an Influence In bringing about
a recovery, there was evldancs that tna
leading trading In cash wheat had been
supporting in future eoeorDing tne
offerings on th weak spots. The clr
cumstance contributed materially to the
decided upturn In th iaat hour. July
fluctuated from ILlZTevl.llj with nnai
sales ll.lJVtjl.UH. lust V.0 net advance.
The corn market made a little show
of strength because of the heavy genera
rains, but the chief longs were unloading
freely and price gave way. Receipts
here for the week were nu.ora bushels
more than shipped out July varied be
tween TiVMrTIao and 7c, closing easy,
t)So oft at 77c. Cash grade were
alow. No. I yellow, ittv9c.
Tha fact that the northwest la bow
supplying most of the New England de
mand led to bear control or mat cereal.
Business, however, was rather narrow.
July ranged from Mfcc to UatJ'.c, with
tns close at szc a oecune or ec.
Provisions suffered from selling pressure
that came mainly through commission
houses representing scattered holder
Support waa poor. When the pit waa
cleared, pork bad become lesa expensive

CATTLE There was little of any con
sequence on sal today and th market
wa nominally steady. Receipts for the
week 1I.1M bead, fall several hundred
short of th week previous and show a
shortage ot 3.108 head aa compared with
the corresponding week of last year.
Quality ot the offeiinga has been vary
good all week although weights have
been running somewhst lighter than usual
at this Urns of the year. It was evident
tram tne start that th demand would
not be ao keen tills week aa last. Whlls
trade ha been in very fair shape most of
the time trend of vslues have been down
ward. Strictly good to choice cattle ail
ing trom 88.wiga.s0 are perhaps not over
a dime lower than a week ago while the
cattle selling under 88.0 are anywhere
from 18ti2to lower and th demand for
them I not very keen at the prices. Bad
market east and unexpected liberal sup
plies at outside points have been largely
responsinie for the slump In prices this
week and Indicator are that wlh a
Ighter run next week the trade wll show
some revival.
Th market for rows and heifers took
much the asms course as the fat rattle
trade and the best heavy row and prime
yearling heifers ars selling very nearly
a well as a week ago. while the medium
to fair grade are 3f438o lower and slow
saie at mat
Volume of trading In stockers and teed
era has been very small this week, but
th ton to the trade has been strong
throughout and desirable offerings of all
weights are quotahly lOtff 10 higher than a
week ago. A very good clearance has
been made and tha undertone la the trade
is healthy and strong.

H008 Hog trade had all of the ali
ment ot a mean, Saturday market, and
price ruled lower In conseuuence. East
ern advices were bearish, but the de-
mann waa primarily dull owing to a
natural disposition to put up small kill
ing drove at the week end. Packer all
bought In leisurely fashion and It re
quired the greater part of the morning
to enaee anyunng nae a creaiiaMe clear
ance at declines of generally a dime on
all weight. Some business In select
shipping grades wss transacted early In
tne session at figures steady or eery
nearly so. but outside orders were not
Isrge enough to excite very much romne-
tltlon. About M per cent of a . MM-heed

scattered within the 87.40ai7.86 spread.
Light bacon class sold from 7 4 down
ward. Compared with a week ago, current
price shoe a general loss of about 8
cent the market opening a little lower,
scaring good recovery at midweek, and
becoming saggy yesterday snd today. Tha
demand on moot dsys ws reasonably
active end clearances were usually eora-
Slete before 11 o clock. Receipts locally
ave had pretty fair si as In view ef the
fact that farmers are busy planting corn,
but the supply at six points shows a
natural aecrease.

SHEEP Nothing waa received In the
wavy of sheep or lam be today and the
market, like meat Saturday sessions, was
barren and nominal
Durug the week conditions have fa
vored buyer and It hae been a mean
trade for eellere from start to finish.
Price broke badly ea early days oaring
to exeeeaive supplies of stock at Buffalo
and Chicago and very Utile recovery has
developed since. Lambs were more plen
tiful than sheep and naturally drew the
larger declines, current prices sbowlnf
losses ranging from SVc to ever toe. Sheep
are closing around 1M-T36C off.
The demand throughout baa aera dull
and dreggy, despite the fact that local
recelpta have beea very limited. High,
eoat and an neMaaetiable alut In the
eestern supply were the two most im
portant bearish Influences. Offerings a
