cattle on aale, prices being nominally
ateady with Friday. Receipts for the
week, I9.40U head, show a K.iin of about
4.0.O head as compared with the week
previous, but a Ioks of nearly 1,000 head
aa compared with the corresponding week
of last year, y.iality of the strings has
been very good as a rule and packers
have had little cause for complaint on
this score. During the first halt of the
week the market was active and strong
under a good demand from both dressed
beef men and shippers. During the let
ter half of the week, ample supplies,
bearish reports from eastern beef and
cattle marketa and a restricted demand
for beef made trade somewhat uneven
and tne trend to pr.ces was lower for
all but strictly good to choice cattle. As
compared with a week ago the beet rat
tle are quotable very nearly ateady while
